It's a pretty straight shot to town... I wonder if a giant slingshot would do it? :p
I'd go for a cannon to be sure. ;)
On a more serious note... I know, what? serious? Well sort of... If I thought I could handle it, I would consider a bicycle. It wouldn't be too practical for grocery shopping, but for small errands like today's... As I'm typing this I am picturing myself trying to ride a bike in 108 degree heat through the desert... FORGET IT!! NEVER MIND!

We actually have stores around here called Acme. I can remember as a kid being so puzzled by all the packages the coyote got marked Acme. After all, all they sold in the Acmes around here were groceries!

CL, the trick w/the bike is to ride it while it's still cool out, like early in the morning. And, if you were to get one of those carts like they have for kids and modify it, you could haul a ton of groceries!

Deb, in the summer there is no such thing as "still cool out." One of those carts would work great, but the roads here are narrow (no bike lanes in the desert) and the roads I would have to travel are 55 mph. They are also the main roads in to the Marine base and many of these Marines drive like idiots! There are at least 3 accidents involving Marines every week, and often fatal accidents.

Actually, I guess it's all relative. Even if it were 80 deg at 6am it would feel a lot cooler than 108 at noon! I'm hoping that if my idea to farm and sell mealworms works, I'll be able to get my van running properly and it won't be an issue! :fl

Same here... Went to town with the neighbor, made biscuits and gravy for us all for lunch, did a couple loads of laundry, a few repairs to the chicken run from slight wind damage, and getting ready to start a pot of chicken soup. The rest of the time was spent in front of this computer and watching TV. Pretty boring all in all....
