I hope I don't ever have to deal with a 'lectric stove again! Grew up with one and am a complete gas stove convert, LOL

I would much rather have a gas range. Out here we do not have natural gas lines running to the homes. We checked out the cost of buying or leasing a tank and having gas delivered and it is cheaper to just stick with the electric. Not to mention the cost of having a standard gas range converted to propane.

I signed in this morning to post and was so upset by Buff's sad news that I had to sign off and take some time. It really shook me for some reason. :hugs to you Buff!

Today we are supposed to have another rainy, windy afternoon and evening. The wind is beginning to pick up as I type, but no sign of rain yet. Still working on the chicken yard. I was out there yesterday morning and I turned to grab something and all of a sudden a jackrabbit came bounding around the corner of the storage trailer being chased by a coyote! :ep I about crapped my pants!! :gig

Just pulled 2 loaves of bread of the oven. I am out of white sugar, so I made it with light brown sugar. I think I will always use brown sugar from now on!! I think the brown sugar holds more moisture, so the bread is a little more dense and less crumby. Delicious!!

We are having the "Old Man" over for dinner. J wants to make a stew with pork, potatoes and carrots.

I think that's it for now! :frow Have a great Sunday!! :thumbsup

I felt the same way when I read Buff's post. I feel so bad for him, I can't even begin to explain...

I baked DH's lunch making bread yesterday - first loaf I've been up to making in a while, and DS#2 and I were in agony! Delicious bread smells filled the house, and we both knew we couldn't even have a single slice! :p So, today I'm making a loaf from WBF's recipe. I need to double check her recipe though - it says it's for white bread, but after I added the 2 T of molasses, it looked like brown bread :hu Makes me happy, because I love brown bread, and can smell the molasses as it rises :drool DH says the child won't eat it, but nobody can say I didn't make the effort, while I fill my pie hole with it!!

We have coyote's up at our hunting camp, and they freak me out. You sit outside (in warm weather) and relax as the darkness closes in, and it begins. At first, the howling is a ways off, but it doesn't take long before you hear it a WHOLE LOT closer than I'm comfortable with! The guys keep talking about using a tent up there - ah, NO! I want more than thin cloth between me and them!!

I have to go for more tests tomorrow and I read in the paper that RIGHT WHERE I AM GOING there was a bear wandering around :ep The sheriif dept looked for it, but never found it. You know you live in the 'way out' when the local hospital has a bear problem!

Great, guess who will get to find it tomorrow when I go for my appt?!!

SSD - I love the smell of fresh bread! We ate most of one loaf 15 mins after it came out of the oven!! I'm curious to know if the molasses makes the bread brown, or if the dough will lighten as it bakes... Don't pack a pic-a-nic basket for your trip to the Dr! :gig There are neighborhoods in the foothills above LA that get visits from bears. They love trash!!

The coyote was beautiful, very healthy looking. Not the typical skinny, scraggly looking ones we usually see. I have never had one come so close to me before. He clearly didn't know I was standing there! He was as startled as I was I think!

Thanks Buff! I know all things happen for a reason. It was just a bit of a shock. Just one of those things you have to be prepared for when raising livestock.
