I have a tiny house. Even a small tree takes up half the living room. Candles, swags, wall hangings....all the joy, none of the loss of living space :D

I'll probably do mine the week before xmas....may do the exterior lights earlier. Definitely not Thanksgiving though, we're hunting and processing our broilers. I don't do much. We have all our lights on extension cord rollers and have them all labeled so all we have to do is unroll them every year. One for one side of outside fenceing, one for the other side, one for the porch and one for the tree. Saves us a lot of headache every year. I walk and unroll as my hubby hangs them. So much easier than dealing with tangled balls of lights. We do wreaths and a tree but we have a small living room so the tree doesn't go up until last minute.

I have a living room that is not tree friendly for the location also.

I move over some furniture and make it fit..LOL...I have an artifical tree I love. Had it for over 15 years and perfect. great deal on my part.

we usually buy a fresh tree for outside in front of the big windows. last year I wasn't spending $$ on it, so we hit the farm and cut the top off a nice pine. Will do the same this year...not spending money on a fresh tree. I have more places it needs to go..LOL

When I put the outside lights, each night I take a short walk up and down the road, just to enjoy them. So for me I guess..LOL
:D I like that.

I used to get more into the whole nine yards. Lately, not so much. I have less time now for decorating. We don't have much room for an indoor tree where we are now. I do have a couple of mini artificial trees, so I can put one of those up, if I feel like it.

A few years ago, I decided to decorate one of the small pine trees in our front yard, with shatterproof ornaments. I kind of liked having the christmas tree outside like that. I also made a wreath that year, mostly from windfallen branches and stuff and hung it on our gate. I am itching to make another wreath this year, so I may do that.

Last year we bought a living christmas tree. I didn't even bother to bring it indoors, just set it up on our deck outside the front window and decorated it. Then planted it right away in January. It wasn't very expensive, and now I have a nice tree in the yard. I want to do that again this year. I have a feeling it might become a tradition.

Good morning Drake, that is a nice tradition. :)

I'm a bit bummed about my daughter never really getting into decorating the tree. As a kid I loved to unwrap all the beautiful ornaments some dating back to the turn of the century. My mom finally gave them to me when I had my daughter. (She moved on to just putting dried flowers and moss in her artificial tree.) Each ornament has a story, you guys know what I mean.

For the last 12 years I've been putting up and taking down a beautiful tree full of one of a kind ornaments, ribbons, glass icicles, that beautiful wax angel from Germany and tiny white lights. I moved the furniture all around to get the tree just right...

Oh, HECK!!!! I'm getting soft now, I do want a tree! FarmerChick you are right, I need to just get over myself and put one up JUST FOR ME! I love lights on the front porch too. :)

LOL--slow down BBH

why no tree? cause everyone else doesn't find it great or something?

LOL

do it for YOU and YOU and YOU

do not do it for others if they don't care..LOL

When I got married I asked Tony if he wanted a Christmas tree or not---you know testing the waters.....and he said he could care less...LOL----then I said---every year we will have one regardless of what ANYONE thinks. I do it for ME!!!

I have a blast. I hit the Xmas music on high, do like you, unwrap the sentimental ornaments and have a blast. (and I have been known to make a rum and coke while doing it)

LOL

(now, did I get that right??? Enjoy the holidays for what they are to YOU!!! )

I do. I have it in my heart and can't let it go!!

I will always have a tree somehow, some way, might be little, might not, etc. for my whole life..LOL

My husband is the same way. Couldn't care less if we have a tree, etc. So if I'm not in the mood, he doesn't exactly encourage me to decorate.

I have a few other Christmas traditions that I tend to be more adament about . . . I love to make fresh home-made cinnamon rolls for Christmas breakfast and I like to listen to the Nutcracker.

I have a bunch of nice old glass ornaments too. But because we have cats, I don't dare to display them. :/

 I love it!!! "Insane Cat Possee"!!!

When I lived in TX there was a radio station that had a segment called "make yo mama cuss" and what they did was the caller would call their mom over the radio and then tell them something that would get them to cuss. They timed how long it would take before the mom would cuss. This one girl called in, called her mom and said simply, "Mom, the cat tipped the Christmas tree over again." Mom screamed, "OH SHI*!!!" The girl won the prize because she got her mom to cuss in the shortest amount of time. :gig

Cats are so predictable.
