I have two passions that I will spend money on myself,first-on wednesday the local paper comes out with the grocery ads.So on my way to work I will stop at the local mini-mart and get the paper and an espresso.I used to get one everyday so now it is a BIG treat, the other is books I have a library (well really its a room the size of a small bedroom off of our bedroom that I have turned in to my library)and Sylvie I too have a big comfy chair and ottoman.Oh how I love it.I rarely buy new books, but take me to a used book sale and watch out !! We have several good sales here a year. Books cost from 25 to 50 cents, and I will spend at least 10$

I can do without alot of things, but I have to have a good haircut.

My hair is curly and won't do anything but be curly, it is stubborn. But it is fine and thin so if it is cut wrong you can really tell. So someone good has to do it.

If not I end up looking like a witch! Luckily it grows slow so I can get by with getting a great haircut just every once in awhile.

I do like a nice coffee drink now and then as well.

The occassional Diet Coke. Yum! ;)

And fabric. I love to sew and make things. Maybe I'll sell enough that I can call it a venture rather than a luxury?

I posted my "everyday" luxuries - but three more big ones:

My essential luxury - good bras! 34DD is hard to get comfy. I found 5 or 6 new Victoria's Secret bras ($45 - 60) each at Savers for $10 - and some I got 1/2 off too!

Good swimsuits go in the same category. TJ Maxx is amazing. I saved the tags because I got suits marked at $123.00 for $12. Sweet!

And one more - a vacation in Canada. My grandmother owns island property and she's been going there for 50 years! The first time I was there I was barely a week old. I love that place. I won't travel for most family get-togethers (Thanksgiving, Easter, etc.) because I think it is terribly wasteful. But I won't miss Canada!

Tortoise--Not sure if I've welcomed you before, but it's great to see another Wisconsinite! Wonder how much snow we will get tomorrow?

I'll have to second the vacation luxury. Every single year we drive up to the north shore of Lake Superior in Feb for xx-skiing and snow shoeing and sometimes again July/Aug for camping and hiking. I love that place!

Man is this the thread for me! I grew up in a more "you get what you need" type of house, but since I'm in school I'm living in a city apartment. Oh man! I live alone, so my bathtub is always clean and I can take bubble baths. And I never step in mud, so I own a few pairs of "nicer" shoes (ie, look cute and trendy, but bought them for about $4 a pair). And I eat out at restaurants sometimes, because my class schedule is hectic (and I like using that as an excuse). The apartment came furnished, and its all modern and stylish stuff. A fancy couch and everything.

You know what though? I'd trade ALL of this in a second FLAT if I could be back with my garden acres and my chickens again!!!!

Jim's Organic Columbian Coffee. This dial up internet tho it is consistantly at 26.4 kbps. S_L_O_W.....
But especially the coffee. We have few other vices. ok actually that is it.
Ummm, occasional video rentals tho I could live without that. But would be depressed with out the coffee. Anything else is crap.

I agree....hot and running water is definitely a luxurious feeling if you have ever done without. Also having a washing machine and a fridge.

Probably the only three things that really keeps me from going back off-grid... :p
