Went to auction. Cold!! Windy. Limited animals but, very nice ones. Sellers got excellent prices, except for a couple pigs. Did see one goat I liked, nice animal and we'll cared for. But didn't take trailer, not going back and fight weather to get.....I passed and didn't even bid. Except for wishing I'd brought gloves, was an enjoyable few hrs. Nice to visit others. 😊

Started snowing while there...heavy downfall and big flakes. Went on for couple hours, but no accumulation. Stopped after getting home and I ran out to feed. They ate and went back to bed! 🤗. Temps dropping fast....low 20s in morning. Boo! 😲☹️
Winter isn't ready to give up the ghost just yet. But time is on our side 👍 as far as snow and precipitation I would say it's been average. But as far as cold 🥶 it's been a cold one no doubt. If past proves future then we are probably looking at a bumper crop of mosquitoes and other blood sucking insects this summer.

Your right CC ...winter isn't ready to leave us! I'm ready for it to be gone. :old

It's 23 on the porch, 18 feel like...and I feel like "too cold for me!". What a kick in the patootee after the week of 70s! 😲. Of course, it would be balmy for those of you with the foot of snow still on the ground...but, cold for here!! I can deal with it, only here a few days, not months. 😁. NOT looking forward to feed time this morning. Brrrrr!

Changed the stove and MW clocks from 3 to 4 as I was in there getting some hot tea. Everything else changes itself. Except the vehicles...they're too old for that. Will need to remember to do it soon. One year they left daylight saving all year. I'd like "them" to leave the time alone!

I did enjoy 1 more hour of sleep before the chickens were calling :) 40s today, it will still feel cool with all the snow but it is exciting to know spring is almost here.

Nothing exciting today, catch up on some household chores and lots of outside time. Have a good day everyone!

16 when I left for work but got down to 13 on recording thermometer... Sun is out and snow is blinding. finally just hit 32 at 1 p.m. ???:th🥶🥶🥶 It is COLD out. especially after the 60's and all last week.... Maybe 40 today, 50 tomorrow and back in the 60's plus by midweek. :fl:fl.

@CrealCritter ; Not upset about selling those calves, that is what they were for. If prices come way off as they are looking like, I'll be glad they are gone. No attachement to the steers, and most of the heifers were just heifers... one nice one was mine and I was going to keep her.... BUT, and she was acting like an idiot and tried to go over 2 gates and ... BYE BYE.... Got cows starting to calve now... if prices are way low this fall, I will be glad the higher value ones are gone and save back some from this next batch. Maybe this year I will be able to spend more time with them too and some won't be so stupid acting... also, when you deal with the numbers we do, you don't let yourself get too attached to too many of them. They are what pay the bills.... you pick out the best and sell the rest. I am just glad we didn't get hurt as the prices are coming down and we could have really gotten caught in a pinch.... it looks like the prices are going to come down even more. It might be a bad fall. The cow herd numbers are down due to continued drought and low hay supply. If there are more people who sell down more, then in another year or 2 there will be a big "need" for replacements for those that stay in... and cattle prices will go back up and stay up for a couple of years.... truly supply and demand when we are not under the influence of the crazy world market and the "war situation" like now in Russia and Ukraine.

I guess the guy up the road from us bought yours and everyone else's. I don't know how many thousands of acres of grass he has, but man there are a lot cattle on it 👀 That's where my two steers came from, last fall.

Beautiful sunny day, mid 60's... every trace of snow left from yesterday is gone. What a change. This is hard on the animals though... those cold drops with the wind and snow can cause some fast pneumonia cases... but hoping that we don't get much more of that bitter cold and wind. We will still get more frost and cold... but hope not any more cold rain/changing to snow and blowing a gale on top of it....

330 foot side done setting t-posts 💪. I put in a 16 ft gate on the far end to my neighbors row crop field.

Lord willing I'll be done pounding t-posts tomorrow. But I already know what my answer will be in the morning when Almighty wakes me up.

@CrealCritter looking good, it will feel amazing to have it all done. Then you wanna come to my house and pound some posts for my grapes and raspberries spots, :gig :gig

Spent a lot of time outside yeaterday shoveling water, yep water. Needing to build up around the chicken run next year, seems like all the snow melt runs and settles on the east side of the run. It hasnt gotten in and made the run floor wet yet but I dont want that chance. And BTW water is heavy, back and arms are sore.

Today starting seeds inside. More work outside, just so nice being out soaking up the sun.
