I am going to the kitchen now, I think I'll thaw a chicken out and some ground meat. I'll make a meatloaf later today and the chicken tomorrow. I think with the leftover chicken I'll make some homemade noodles and do up some soup. thats always good for lunches.
Sounds like a plan, I have stuff for both of these so I think I will join you. I tend to get in a rut and then make the same 5 things and then we get sick of it. Harder in the winter as we can't grow much for veggies and fruit and grocery store stuff is BLAH. I canned a bunch but I don't want to rush through it, lol. Crazy how the mind works

Not only are those store eggs expensive, they're not close to as fresh. 🙂. Yep, I give away $6 a dz eggs. Some to my kids, others to a friend who gives me a tree of figs....she even picks them for me. Couple friends who are in need also get eggs. I love my hens!

And milk....my goats are great. We share plus I make cheeses, soap, sell some milk, too.

I'm into my "don't buy season" as far as most people foods. I'm good for several months. Trust me, the $ saved helps buy animal feed. Of course, yesterday's buy of tractor oil, hydraulic fluids, antifreeze, set me back big time. But that's done for the winter. 👍

It's planning and farm life. Gotta love it. 😁 :old

At this house last Dec. it snowed 3 feet at Christmas, the young folks that lived here couldn't get out of the driveway and down the road. They were in for 3 weeks. So, plan for the worst and pray for the best.
As a member of the Hurricane Hunker Down Club, I get it. While we were able to get to the grocery stores, they were closed and had nothing left in them anyway. Power off, whatever was left had to be thrown out and cases cleaned. No power at home for up to 3 weeks. We were always ok because of my squirrel DNA.

Same here, not opening the pantry until nesasary. If the power goes out I make meatloaf patties and cook them on the wood stove. I got my #10 can size of sprouting seed from True Leaf Market, they make toppings for tacos and just about anything.

Squirrel season for sure! DH gets annoyed with me this time of year. He has never experienced scarcity of money or food. He does not understand that if something big happens, you cannot just go to the store and buy ______. I grew up in poverty with food insecurity. As a teen, I worked at Walmart on 9/11 and watched in amazement as we sold out of gas cans (among other items) and the gas stations were all out of gas by the time my shift was over. We don't have widespread disasters here. Power outage during winter storms are a threat but power is rarely out for more than 4 hours. Tornadoes are our mass destruction, but the path is narrow so one can drive to an unaffected area to restock or relocate.

DS15 has been wasting chicken feed, so tomorrow morning I'm taking him to the bank to withdraw HIS money and go to buy a bag of chicken feed. He went through 1/2 a bag in a week. (A bag should last at least a month.)

Woke up this morning, sunlight peeking through the window. Looked at the cell phone 6 something. Too early to get up on a Sunday, went back to sleep. Woke up again it was 7 something. Then I thought about the first time I woke up 6 something and daylight? 🤔 Rolled out of bed, prayed. Went to make coffee and go to the bathroom. Looked at the clock, it was 8:10.

Not having first coffee, let alone second coffee, at first, I thought I time warped an hour or something. Then I'm, nope... it's that silly time change 🙄. Someone needs to explain this whole time change thing to the animals. Because, they were all protesting... He's an hour late feeding us! oh no... the world is ending 😂

Jesus is Lord and Christ 🙏❤️🇺🇸
