Well, again, I fell asleep on the couch with TV on....2:30ish I awake to "go to bed". 🙄 Since I'd already slept about 5 hrs there wasn't any sleeping left in me. I tried but, after laying awake an hour, just got up! 🥴. Come daylight I'll be looking for a nap😫. Age can sure screw up our time clocks.

So, coffee it is. Just had some chicken salad for breakfast. Making bread in a few....would have been nice to have had made for the chicken salad but, I didn't do it last night.😁 🤷. Eggs & bacon sounded good, not the cooking part, grabbed what was ready in frig. :old

I am right there with ya,, I think all this 5G and crap going through the air doesn’t help.
We live out far enough that we barely get a cell signal but EMF is definitely not good for us.
I too think it may have to do with age changing, what’s the magic #

Finished up a stint of working 12 days straight. Haven't done a big application deployment like this in years.
Today is going to be "going to town" day to deposit some checks, do some shopping, and maybe get my hair cut. Might stop and get a big breakfast.

Finally going to have Christmas with the kids Sunday.

Wife is starting to have kidney stone issues again

some say , oh we live off grid,, but do they really? In my mind off grid must have a different meaning more like self sufficient; like :
Not relying on the power, water company
Growing your own food,
being self sustaining,,
I am working toward this,
This is the goal
Learning to not be addicted to the system- do you really Need ____________ or can you do without it.

we're certainly not off-grid but electricity is all we get now that is directly connected to the house. propane for heat. cell service for phone (after ATT finally screwed up enough times that Mom was willing to have a cell phone).

it sure would be nice to not have all these power lines running around our property (ruins the views if you get upset by those sorts of things). we're at a junction for both the electrical system and the drainage system where two runs come together. it makes for a complicated layout and adds to pains in the butt at times. plus living on a corner.

as far as electricity goes, going off-grid would mean a generator or solar panels or something and in case of solar we don't really get bright light here for weeks to months at a time - which would mean we'd need a lot of extra capacity to get whatever light is coming through the clouds or we'd need a rather large battery. a lot of the renewable power in this area is from wind and then some solar farms are going in too, but wind is by far more useful.

today is the first sunny blue sky day here in weeks. it's so odd now to see the blue sky as i look out the patio door.

still no snow. :(

Yay for getting that job done!! Have fun in town and enjoy breakfast. Yay for Christmas with kiddos too.

Oh no on the kidney stones. Your wife has had enough of this mess - it's time for it to go away.

Well I like to think,, ok so if you didn’t have a battery / solar/ or fuel for a generator — how would you_________________?
Cut wood
Cut a field
Store food for winter
Cook
Clean
Etc………
I look for non electric solutions
A small solar charger for rechargeable batteries, a hand crank emergency radio,
And the list goes on,
I have been trying to move away from relying on the freezer, I have been Not buying foods that require refrigeration,

I think this is good, for us anyway, not everyone can.
Thinking on this as I was out and about this morning.
Fresh water
Life sustaining meds
Heat

Unfortunately, in a SHTF scenario, my wife and I will die a slow agonizing death. Just an honest assessment of our reality. No worries

Well, I had a wood stove &switched to propane. Could reinstall the wood one with tears, sore muscle and a little effort. I have oil lamps. Can cook outside, wood, brick ovens, or on reinstalled stove inside. Lots of canned food...on the hoof eggs, milk, meat. Sun can dehydrate, and sun can cook...both fairly easy set ups and have plans for making. Have crosscut saws, axes, splitting malls.

Animals and scythe can cut fields. I have a hand pump and a dug, stone lined well at back of my property. Rain water collectors on hand. I have wagons and 2 minis trained to pull...goats can learn😊

Garden -- more work by hand but can do. You can can outside, over fire. Many ways to store foods.

Using up a freezer full would be a job!! 😲 But doing without a freezer IS doable.

I have a lot of hand operated "stuff".... Mixer, crank food processors, washboard for laundry, tubs, etc. Primarily in case of outages but I sure had lessons in HOW to cut wood with a 2 man crosscut, wash clothes by hand, plow, build an outhouse....all the off grid things. I was married and had 2 kids but grand parents were still off grid! That's been over 50 years but I lived it before that when I was there. Yep, milk and set the jug in the cold spring water!! Its an experience I'm proud to have had.
