Take it from someone for whom “old” has arrived, it sure beats the alternative!
This kid at heart has had to recognize that my body won’t always do what “the kid” tells it to do! No jumping off the porch, that was always so much fun. No riding “bad” horses and getting thrown off, it hurts when I hit the ground. I was diagnosed with osteoporosis in both femurs and hips, osteopenia in my spine. Was told not to fall down or I would break something. THAT doesn’t fit my lifestyle! Refused the pharmaceutical drug for it and taking a more natural product that actually puts the bone back, with no side effects. It will take about a year for that to show up.
I get tired more easily. I can’t do the heavy stuff I once did. Where I used to pitch in and be one of the guys, now I’m in the way. That pisses me off. I don’t like this aspect of more birthdays and have to adjust accordingly. I don’t like it. I want to remain 10 feet tall and bulletproof, but that’s history. I’ve shrunk, not even as tall as I once was.

Living alone has its moments. If I fall off the roof, who’s going to call the ambulance? I had to go up and check for hail damage, now waiting on insurance adjuster. Osteoporosis and older age be damned, I’ll reroof it myself, with the help of 2 guys so I can get in their way.
Double that for me... and I have a couple years on you I think. Add to it that I cannot seem to lose the weight from being inactive with the ankle and then both knees replaced and just now feeling more like I can do things again... but I seem to get in the way with my son and the cows sometimes... yet I am the one he calls every time they get out... I think twice about getting down because can no longer kneel on the knees to get back up so that is a problem...even if I trip on something in the field... the knees do n ot react as fast so down I go... then get pissed since I have to find a way to get back up... BRUISED EGO...... At least you are not overweight @baymule Luckily I don't have any osteoporosis or calcium problems so far...

ancient injuries can catch up to ya. not fun, but like you say it's better than the alternative. being active does help though in other regards and just being outside and doing something useful is a welcome change of pace.
Yeah, it is the old injuries that are sometimes worse when they catch up....

Coffee is ready and 2 capsules of Alge-Cal for my osteoporosis. 2 more at supper time, then 2 capsules of Strontium at bedtime . Yummy! A friend told me about it, her Chiropractor put her on it for osteopenia. She no longer has osteopenia! I called the company and mentioned that she recommended the product to me and they sent her a free bottle! They also gave me a 20% discount for first purchase, so I bought a year’s supply. I’m going to build my bones back to good health.

@farmerjan i went on a Keto type diet the first of the year and lost the pounds I wanted to. My weight fluctuates up and down, maddening! My low weight was 137, my high weight was 142. Clothes were tight. I wear tight blue jeans anyway, but the bulge hanging over the waistband was getting ridiculous. I skidded off into the ditch, fell off the diet, back on, off, on, but have still managed to lose weight. Now my low weight is 132, my high weight is 135. I still want to drop a couple more pounds and I’m slowly reaching that goal.

Carbs are your enemy! Get some Keto cookbooks, look up recipes online and resist the carbs. Low calorie, low carb, and you will lose the weight. It’s hard, but it works. I’m not even strictly adhering to the diet anymore but I’m still watching carbs and calories.

I know you have a hectic schedule, but on days when you aren’t testing, cook for yourself. Make extra so you can heat it up when you have no time. No sweets, no bread. I don’t even keep bread, crackers, chips and such in the house anymore. Meat and vegetables. Last nights supper was a T-bone steak. Was tired, didn’t fix anything to go with it, ate the whole thing. LOL

You can do this.

I suppose the bread pudding I'm making is a "no-no" for keto & calories ??? I'll eat your share!

Actually had to buy day old French bread (mark downs!) to do this. But crave will be over. 👍 Extra milk, ya know? 😊

Having my coffee and wish that pudding was done yesterday! Leftover chicken breast instead. Not the same...

Sunny and nice outside.

i had my usual today for breakfast a few apple slices with peanut butter. it works ok for me as i'm holding at about 167lbs which for me is great shape to be in for this coming gardening season.

as i get outside and become more active i will probably change fat into muscle. i'd really like to get this last handful of belly gone by the end of this summer or at least reduce it as much as i can. 10-15 more lbs would put me at where i was at the end of high school and i was good with that. :) 135lbs was as low as i'd ever been since early teens but i hit that somewhere around 2010. bounced right back up to 170 within a few years and then just didn't pay attention one mid-winter and knew i was being bad and creeped over 180lbs. felt horrible but still, when there's sweets around i'm always wanting those.

so we'll get there eventually. at least i don't have to buy new clothes. all my old ones still mostly fit. :)

bread pudding with plenty of butter sounds delicious right now. imagination is doing ok though so i will avoid any snacking until we have bean and ham soup this afternoon.

Just dealt with the third phew, however the fragrance still remains. I'm giving myself a congrats card, hope you don't mind 🤣

Coffee is ready and bacon and eggs for breakfast!
I bought a yard of compost yesterday and filled my cattle syrup lick tubs. I watered them to settle the soil. A neighbor gave me 4 tomato plants and I have squash and cucumber seeds. This morning I plant!

I bought 10 squares of Saint Augustine grass yesterday, not much, but it’s a start for my yard.

Today is another 91F degree day. Going outside for dirt and sweat therapy.
