I looked in the mirror this morning, noticed my beard is really gray. Then sunrise light shining through the window hit the top of my hands. I looked and saw wrinkly skin of old looking hands. I think my body is getting old, but I'm still a kid at heart.

Take it from someone for whom “old” has arrived, it sure beats the alternative!
This kid at heart has had to recognize that my body won’t always do what “the kid” tells it to do! No jumping off the porch, that was always so much fun. No riding “bad” horses and getting thrown off, it hurts when I hit the ground. I was diagnosed with osteoporosis in both femurs and hips, osteopenia in my spine. Was told not to fall down or I would break something. THAT doesn’t fit my lifestyle! Refused the pharmaceutical drug for it and taking a more natural product that actually puts the bone back, with no side effects. It will take about a year for that to show up.
I get tired more easily. I can’t do the heavy stuff I once did. Where I used to pitch in and be one of the guys, now I’m in the way. That pisses me off. I don’t like this aspect of more birthdays and have to adjust accordingly. I don’t like it. I want to remain 10 feet tall and bulletproof, but that’s history. I’ve shrunk, not even as tall as I once was.

Living alone has its moments. If I fall off the roof, who’s going to call the ambulance? I had to go up and check for hail damage, now waiting on insurance adjuster. Osteoporosis and older age be damned, I’ll reroof it myself, with the help of 2 guys so I can get in their way.

Good morning! Coffee is ready! My step counter said I walked 5.8 miles yesterday. No wonder I was tired. That’s WORKING steps, not just lollygagging around.
10 day forecast shows rain every day. Mostly a light drizzle but next week, Thursday and Friday show 3-4” of rain. Highs in the 80’s and low 90’s. Lows 68F-72F.
Good morning the birds are all excited this morning singing praises to Almighty for another beautiful day.

I helped two baby sparrows get back in their nest this morning. I do believe momma and poppa sparrow were thankful for my efforts to catch those fast running babies and gently place them back in their nest along with their bother or sister.

Yep it's a awesome day already. Try and enjoy your day. Go out of your way and do something ❤️ today. The days are short, the world needs ❤️. Even the smallest of things can make a huge difference. You may as well make the most of the days you have remaining in earth, under the firmament of heaven.

You guys...just wait! Old has it moments & limits...but you work around it. I'm fortunate to have NO health issues, unless years is one. I think I've got about a 10 yr lead on you both, so hang in there -- report back when you catch up :old:old😁

ancient injuries can catch up to ya. not fun, but like you say it's better than the alternative. being active does help though in other regards and just being outside and doing something useful is a welcome change of pace.

So true to all that but it does catch up. I guess from All the night work, and hard marriage has finally caught up with me and mingled with some hederitary crap. So, since I am in Michigan,

My grandmother had SEVERE osteoporosis. She did take the drugs, and she lifted weights every day. She lived independently into her 90's. Never broke a bone!! Lifestyle matters!

Balance training prevents falls - and it's fun! Unless it's walking in mud... 😬

The fear of falling is often what causes frailty and falls. I saw an elderly man (youtube?) who taught himself how to fall safely, by falling intentionally onto a mattress. Smart! With osteoporosis, a big risk is breaking wrist bones from falling onto outstretched arms.

Your lifestyle is protective, IMO

I asked oreo if bessey is sitting on the nest. This is the look I got. Hard telling... But she's still rocking that crazy hairdo.
