Comfrey under fruit trees gives me a plan

Thanks Grandma 👍

i would be careful with that! based upon my experience here it is nearly impossible to easily remove once it gets established.

the reason i also say this is that it think it would be a very aggressive competition for water and nutrients around fruit trees. it's a lovely plant and i really like it but wow is it tough. i have it growing in mostly clay on a raised border area and it's not easily being removed. it's hardly been watered, it's still alive and i'd love to move it someplaces else, but i'm also afraid... not many plants make me feel this way...

I think there are strains that only propagate by roots, don’t make seeds to scatter to the winds and have plants pop up everywhere. In the back of my mind I’m thinking those are strains called Bocking. I could be wrong, do your research.

Coffee is ready, was awake at 3:40 AM. Got a load of laundry going, oiled my new pair of boots and did a little straightening up. I’ll graze the ewe crew again in the yard this morning. Got a friend picking me up at 12 to take me to get my truck. I can’t wait to see it and get it back, it’s been 2 weeks!

Comfrey Bocking 4 &14 are sterile so only root propagation. Any tiny root! So yes, put where you want it because difficult to totally move! But it's a great fertilizer and you can cut off leaves to place around your trees.....medicinal uses are good. The leaves are high protein, animals love them. I'm planting more now. Have to fence it off from goats and chickens to keep them growing until I WANT to harvest

Today is starting well -- hope that continues. 🤣👍

that is the type we have. no seeds or stray plants ever seen here, yet still the original small plantings from single small cuttings have easily expanded even in the almost solid clay in a very tough location. that kind of aggressive growth along with the nearly indestructable root pieces make me really leery of recommending this approach for an orchard.
