That's thinking sustainable! Use it for something like that and then reuse it for a final resting place. I like that!Farmfresh said:The loss is always SO hard on family even if you know it is coming.
I am currently trying to get my sis to make funeral arrangements for my dad BEFORE we have the last minute problem. Since my mom has already died he already has a plot and headstone, it just needs his date.
As far as funerals being for the living you are absolutely right. People need to be able to say goodbye, after that it is just your old shell. Dad had the best idea YEARS ago but my mom stopped him. They were in picking out a coffin for my Grandma Nettie. Dad had seen a beautiful wooden coffin and wanted to buy it for himself and take it home right then. My mom hit the ceiling. (Of course she was up there a lot.)
He asked her why would you want to buy such a beautiful piece of cabinetry and immediately stick it in the ground? He wanted to make a wardrobe out of it or use it to store blankets until he needed it. Then he could really enjoy it here, before he needed it as a residence. Creepy? Yes - but you can't deny the logic.
