Maybe she will get broody as the weather warms. My ducks were trying to get all sneaky about where they hide their eggs so Spring is in the air :p I got some of those stone decorator eggs to leave where I WANT them to lay and so far they are falling for it :D

My drake stated trying to go after my feet the other day too. Brat!!!

Even though the weather looks great for the coming week, I think I will wait until next month to see if I can entice one of the girls to brood.
Yeah, ours are pretty good about laying in the coop. Why they feel the need to lay in between the laying cabinet and the wall is beyond me, other than possible "safety" reasons, but we will generally find five or six eggs there :) We have golf balls in both of the nest buckets and in one of the sections of the nesting cabinet and they still would rather lay there  . Yeah, she didn't go broody, which I suppose is a good thing, since it is kinda cold out and all. But, I figure that the two that have been outside for the past twelve weeks are probably more hardy than the four that we've got inside in the brooder, so whenever possible I plan on having them do it for us :)

So, Geek Alert! :D
I worked for three hours yesterday morning, and then CJ and I drove to Cheyenne (about an hour away) for one of my "nephew's" birthday party. We made cracker caterpillars (although I made mine into a car and CJ made his into a snake with backne :gig :gig ) and the kids played slap the crest on the power ranger (the one girl at the party slapped it right on the ranger's crotch :gig :gig :gig) and had cupcake cake and icecream. All the kids went home and then the six of us went to Chile's for dinner where CJ and I both made eyes at our waiter :drool eh, what can you do, there's no harm in looking right? :hu :clap It didn't hurt that before we placed our order I informed him that the two of us were gluten free and CJ ordered fries with his meal and the waiter came back with the food sans fries and told him that the fries were in fact not GF but he could have a different side. How cool is that? Then, we went to target, then back to their house where Sara, Thom and I played Magic:The gathering (this is the geek part :p ) while CJ played on Sara's laptop. I haven't played in over three years, so it was kinda fun to break out my old deck and whoop their asses :D :D Go me :weee :weee

And what the heck is with this wind?!!? I jumped out of bed this morning thinking we have a tornado on top of the house and what is it? Just freakishly heavy wind!! Which keeps changing direction and which tends to shake the whole trailer!! :barnie :he :he :he :somad I want my underground house and I want it now!! :rant :rant :somad :tongue I'm not sure I want to even open the door to the coop this morning, I'm afraid of what will happen!!! It's bad enough Sussi (the speckeled sussex) has gone missing, she wasn't in the coop last night, but to have more blow away would just be :smack :duc :rant

Ok, I'll stop blathering now:)

It is getting better and better all of the time. I took my D1 out to a girls lunch at Red Lobster the other day and our waiter was VERY VERY good about the Gluten thing as well. He even brought me a Gluten free menu without my asking and took time to check on some of the ingredients and had a special talk with our chef. :thumbsup Yup HE got a good tip! :D

This is true, although technically it is windier today than yesterday here. However, driving home in it last night was a fun challenge  And then it dies down to almost nothing and it is so erie to have that sound go missing! Weird!

Yeh. I love the stretches of I-25 that warn of the driving dangers just due to wind.

Any sign of Sussie??
*sigh* no sign of Sussie. I searched in all the usual hiding places, and hang out places, and the make out place that Bernie uses for some of the girls when he wants to make time away from the eyes of the other males  but no Sussie. I'm deluding myself into believing that she decided that she wants to brood and do it away from the coop and has built herself a nest somewhere really protected  one can have hope right? :D But, at the moment we are down to 24 chickens now. peh. stupid foxes.

ETA: *sigh* and I have just been informed that there's a good chance she's been gone for several days, since my inlaws close them up in the evening and my partner checks them at night when he comes home from work. The inlaws don't count them, which is why we check them, and he's only been counting 24 instead of 25 the last couple of nights. :idunno *sigh*

It IS possible she found a hiding spot and will lead a group of chicks back to you in a few weeks. Of course I wouldn't hold my breath, but one can hope! :fl
