I'm a glutton for punishment...can I help TheFan with the firewood, too! :fl

I am so bummed out that I could just :hit ...doc and I decided to cook dinner out over the fire tonight so I HAD to go out into the woods and drag in some firewood instead of cleaning windows! I hate it when that happens! :gig

But the garbage got burned so that's a good thing and a chore that wasn't on the to-do list. Plus Bubba and I got some much needed exercise and fresh air! :D

Well, need to get off here and go see how the fire is doing, doc should be home in just over an hour.

If you want to come and do wood, be my guest. And, if you and Doc come on the bike, as long as it's not too cold out, we'll go for a nice ride afterward.

Hey Deb,

Let us get the bike fixed and we'll take ya up on that ride! Coulda had her fixed from the left-over settlement $ but bought the property instead. Getting her fixed is on the list after getting the cabin built but some of the gorgeous days we have here make it tempting to switch up those priorities! ;)

Had a great time with Mom yesterday and got the pumpkins canned. Spent about 8 hours "playin' in pumpkins" and could have been done sooner but she found a recipe for Sweet Pumpkin Pickles and we just had to try them since the Cantaloupe Pickles she did last year turned out so good! :D Did the rest of the pumpkin cubed so we can use as jar (as needed) for whatever recipe we might want to use it for.

It's great to be getting back into canning again since I grew up doing it. But it was just like growing up gardening...when I left home at 19, I couldn't wait to get away from it, but by the time I hit my late 20's I was ready to embrace it all again!

By the time we were done messing with the pumpkins, we were both sore and glad to have it over with. Five minutes later, we were scheming about getting a few more and doing some more canning and discussing the options of trying to dehydrate some and the possibilities of trying to make pumpkin leather! :gig

Doc and I are always talking about the cool ideas/things we've learned from here and Mom is really looking forward to getting the internet back so she can check it out!

I've got Kefir grains coming (Thank You, citylife! :hugs ) and have been telling her about all the different ways to use it and she is looking forward to using it herself. I was worried nobody would want to eat anything we used it in and she said "Well, we just won't tell them!". :gig

Hope everyone is having a good day...raining here so I'm being lazy, physically, but catching up on some reading. :caf

Gorgeous day here...57 and sunshine! Spent a few hours in the woods today to give Bub a much needed run, since it's supposed to be cold tomorrow. The wind chill is gonna be great! :(

I gave the chickens and guineas extra feed and water so I won't have to deal with it tomorrow!

I brought home some more quart canning jars from mom's so I'll get the fire cider strained. Need to get the watermelon wine racked off into another carboy but doc has three days off starting Friday so I'll wait until then to mess with that one! ;)

I'll probably do a June 2010 post here tomorrow in hopes that I can fool myself in to thinking warm thoughts! :gig

While doc has the couple days off, I hope we can mess with getting all of my pix off of the external hard drive. :fl

Speaking of pix...the USB cable for my camera finally gave up the ghost. Found a place with great prices so in order to make the price of shipping worthwhile, I ordered another battery for my camera (for back-up). I made this order on 12/26/11 and it arrived 2 days later! I was thrilled...until I opened the package and realized they sent me a battery charger instead.

So I double checked to make sure the error wasn't on my part (and it wasn't) so I contacted their customer service about it. Got a nice e-mail "sorry for the oops! Sending your battery and return postage out today". Cool, right?

Got the package yesterday, open it up and it's another freakin' battery charger! :duc :rant :he

I'm having de ja vu from an order I made months ago but it involved a 50# bag of food grade DE and a book on using DE. They "forgot" to send the book with the bag and it tooks close to 2 months for me to finally get the book sent. I sicced doc on them and had the book in three days! Guess I'm gonna have to sic him on these latest "darlings", too! :barnie

I've had times when I've ordered something and gotten something completely different. And, they sent me the correct thing, and never asked for the other back. I'm pretty sure that legally, since it's their mistake, you don't have to return it.

This places policy is supposed to be sending you return postage for the wrong item, along with the correct item. If only they would send the correct item! Maybe I'm wrong for being this way, but I'm not returning either battery charger until I actually get my battery. :idunno

Had some snow at 3:30 a.m. but it's quit for now and the wind is blowing to beat the band. :hide

When we first moved out here, I wanted the camper set up so that I could look out my window (the one over doc's seat) and be able to see the natural rock garden but when we get these 30 - 45+ mph wind gusts, I'm glad the long side of the camper doesn't face the west/northwest.

As it is, the front of the camper faces in that direction so there's a lot less area for the wind to deal with but it still shakes the place real good. The last time the wind got like this, I was watching a scary/paranormal movie on Netflix. I was using the headphones since the movie didn't have closed captioning. The evening had been quiet wind-wise and about the time the movie got good and I was on the edge of my seat...the table went to shaking! I just about messed myself! :gig

Who says God doesn't have a sense of humor?!!!!

I have had wrong items sent to me in the past because the order # was incorrect. Maybe they could check that!

Mornin' ss!

The Great Spirit definately has a sense of humor!

Doc will be home in about 30 minutes so we'll call customer service from the cell phone. With getting 2 chargers instead of the battery, I'm sure something is wrong on their webpage.

Brrr...28 now with a wind chill of 17. :/

Stay warm, ss! :hugs

It wouldn't be so bad if it hadn't been near 60 degrees just over 16 hours ago. When the temp dropped, it took a nose dive!

Definately gonna dig up those June 2010 pix! :gig
