We did our civilized visit at Mom & Dad's today.

Had an early dinner so Mom could go to church tonight. I was good and got the kitchen cleaned up, even though she told doc to tell me not to bother with it. :D I figure it's the least I can do since they let us use the shower, let us do our laundry there and gave our two aquariums a home when we moved out here! ;)

Anywho, I'd taken her dehydrator back today and when I put it back up in the canning shed I noticed she still hadn't done anything with the 2 huge pumpkins she picked up back in October. When she got home from church I asked her if she wanted to pick me up Sunday night after church and I'd spend the night and help her get the pumpkins put up on Monday. It made her day and she took me up on the offer.

So we get talking "all things kitchen" (which scared me as I'm tomboy Dawn and not domestic Dawn :gig ) and I mentioned that we planned on buying ourselves a food proccessor for Christmas this year. Next thing I know, she says "Come to the kitchen with me" and pulls down a proccessor that she bought and only used once and says "Here, give it a good home"! :celebrate

Doc goes back to days at work on Friday and it's going to be in the 60's, so I'm gonna break out the Shop Vac and give the camper a good cleaning and find a home for our new acquisition!

Sounds like a good day.

And, if it makes you feel any better, I'm tomboy Deb but can be domestic Deb when needed.

:hugs Thanks Deb!

Makes me feel a lot better and mom always said that I was a late bloomer! :gig

Mom and Dad moved out here after Pops' stroke, several years ago...he was/and still is a very active do-it-yourslf(er) person. He easily gets on most peoples' last nerve as a "know-it-all" but only means it with the best of intentions, and I realize that now.

He and I didn't get along when I was growing up, we had a bad situation between us and it took me a looong time to get past. But I've forgiven him and we have a great relationship now and I'm so thankful for it...we have a blast together now.

When we first moved out here, he wanted /was looking for sympathy or maybe just compassion for the fact that he'd lost his ability to be who he used to be...his stroke pretty much completely paralized his entire right-hand side and of course he use to be right-handed. I told him right up front...don't feel sorry for ya', had to learn "lefty for myself" after the bike wreck. Doc's a natural born lefty and has been helping him make the adjustment more comftorably and we've seen a huge difference, at least when we are around, in his attitude. One of doc's first projects out here was helping dad get his shop/man cave set-up for lefty-ism/lefty-icability? :D I need to get pix, they did a great job!

One of the first things we do when we show up for our civilization visits is check and see if we need to bring any wood inside for the woodstove. Dad'll say, "Don't worry, Mom will get it" and I always tell him "I bitched about this crap as a kid, let me do it without an argument". Shuts him up everytime!

He gets just as vocal when we talk about doing projects out here on our place so we've gotten to the point of just saying "get your arae out here, let's make it happen! ...can you here the crickets chirping? :gig Some of his ideas fit, some of them don't and we always let him know that we appreciate those thoughts however they work out.

When we left out this evening, I told Pop, "Sorry 'bout your luck, see ya Sunday night, Mom's kidnapping me after church!" and he looked aover at doc and winked and said "So where ya gonna sleep?". I said "outside in the dog crate, with Smiley (their adopted beagle/hound/mutt), he'll keep me warm!" and I think he came close to peeing himself a bit with the giggles!

Life is good and NOT sorry for ramblin! :D

Sounds like helping on your projects is great therapy for him. He gets to have fun and do productive work again. That's an ego boost after a stroke.

It's 69 degrees F here right now! :th

Fortunaly it's too windy to do much outside so I'm working on getting the camper cleaned up. ;)

FC,

Glad to hear life is good for you, too! :hugs

snap,

I'm glad we have a positive relationship now. I think it helps that I was a CNA for a couple of years in a nursing home.

The proccessor is a West Bend. Nothing fancy, but I'm amazed at all the things I'll be able to do with it. I'm going to be getting Kefir grains and wanted to be able to make smoothies. I'll also be doing some weight-lifting...I'll have to move the mictowave from the kitchen counter to have a place to use the processor! :gig

dl,

We haven't gotten him over here to work with us yet but the day will come! ;)

Well, I finished my coffee so I'm gonna get back to cleaning...

Darn, Deb...I messed up! If I had found your reply yesterday, I could have tied the corners of a sheet to my wrists and ankles and been blown to your place in no time! :gig Yep, it was that windy!

Yesterday was very productive and the camper looks good! :D

Today, I'm cleaning windows, got our blankets airing out and changing the summer sheets out for the flannels. Also gave the plants in the coldframes a drink since it's been so warm.

Outta here for now and back at it...

Darn! I always miss out. But if I can get you to come and clean, and The Fan to come and do my firewood, then I can join Sun Saver in sitting back and watching the clouds go by. :D
