looks good on the frame, and nice job leveling it. theres a few areas like that where the rabbit hutches are, the babbit hutch has a 6" difference from one end to the other LOL.
It's kind of funny when we get things actually level, like the compost tumbler for instance. The first time my dad saw it, he gave us an earful about how it would turn easier if it was actually level...we had a good laugh at the look on his face when we told him it was about the only level thing in the garden! Even the coops have a "fun-house" effect to them but they're level!
The rabbit shelter/shed/lean-to is going to be fun, too, as there is a 1' drop from the south side to the north side:
Got just over half of my tomato seedling moved from the egg cartons and into toilet paper rolls. Hope to finish that tomorrow. Then I need to figure out just what to do with the Anise and two varieties of Bee Balm seedlings as far as transplanting them into another container for more grow-out before I permanently plant them.
Doc's week off starts on Friday so hopefully we'll be getting the steering pump replaced on the Dakota and new tires will be next.
Mom and Aunt Joyce stopped by after church to pick up eggs. Bubba decided it was time for AJ to learn how to fetch and he taught her well! I'm not sure which one of them had the most fun! As they got ready to leave, I told them to watch out for the invisible cougar and AJ said that my uncle told her that he'd seen one several times. That just goes to prove that seeing them apparently runs in the family and I was passed the gene!
The humanure pile is going terrific! No bugs, no smell and doc has been able to bring home several 50# bags of sawdust from work over the last few days.
I watched a very interesting youtube video on humanure, but DH is vehemently opposed to the idea Geesh! I told him I'd just use it around the trees and flowers!
Doc had no problem with the humanure pile either...especially since I'm the one dealing with it!
We'll be building the rabbit shed up against that wall on the storage shed (shed wall will basically be the north wall for the bunny hut).
We'll be doing our MO trip tomorrow to hit the feed store, haul aluminum, see about rabbit manure, order the steering pump for the Dakota and hopefully check out the rabbits that the guy is wanting to get rid of. If the rabbits don't work out, I won't be too bummed since I've already got so much going on here by myself. Since I feel like I'm overloaded, now that I think about it, we'll probably end up with a few of them since that's how it usually work around here! Bring it!!! Doc's off for a week so we'll be able to get the shelter built fairly quickly or make it rain...one or the other.
Nice day for working outside today, we just hit 70F and there's a bit of a breeze. Working on getting fence up around the compost pile and the sawdust pile...the going would be quicker if it wasn't for the mosquitoes. If it ain't one thing, it's another!
Went to check out the rabbits and they'll be coming home sometime next week, probably Wednesday. Not sure on the breed but they're good-sized does. No luck on a buck but we're hoping we can horse-trade one of the 3 girls for a buck.
Stopped to grab some bunny gold from the hardware store and he was already sold out again. So glad we've got three coming home soon as I am officially over it. Said he had another load coming in tomorrow but not sure if we're even gonna waste time and gas to go there so he can be sold out again. At this point, third time ain't gonna be a charm!
Dropped off the aluminum and that paid for the rabbit feed, straw and salt licks with a few bucks left over. They didn't have hay so we'll get that on Monday or Tuesday.
On Tuesday, our neighbor/adopted dad is going to take doc to do the lumber run for the rest of the building materials for the Bun Barn/Hasenfeffer Hut in the morning and we'll get it built when they get back. Shouldn't take us long as it's only two side walls and a roof since the east wall of the shed is going to be the north wall for the barn/hut.
Is it Wednesday yet??? I'm not excited about the buns, at all!
We're doing the civilized visit to mom's tomorrow and the doggie drama is over so we'll take the boy with us, that will make Bub's day!
Edited to add a pic of the level compost tumbler (that I mentioned above):
Humanure pile is on the right. I just love the "fun-house effect" that the tumbler has in this pic. It's level, I promise!
Storms are done here...no damage but we got some much needed rain!
Worked in the shed today and got the front half re-organized, so now the back half is chaos but it's mainly empty boxes that we need to just break down and store.
Good visit yesterday for our call to civilization. Finally got the roof off of mom's wishing well so she can repaint it and we can restabilize the supports. Our next visit is on Thursday and we're meeting up with her after she gets off from work and going to Thayer to see about some greenhouse "tables" for cheap. It's also my b-day (I'll be 16 , if you're curious) so she wants to fix a special dinner and I won't let her. We may do some excellent carry-out catfish, though.
I hope to be able to work some in the garden tomorrow, after this rain. Want to get the tomato trellises put back in place, hopefully get the 6 Mary Washington Aparagus roots planted and get some soaked seeds sown.
