Some days I want my own place so badly, it hurts! And, when I have days like this, it makes me want it more.

RU called me last night. She and her hubby were in the processing of going away for the weekend, so she needed me to feed horses today. Not a problem, or so I thought.

I get to the farm today. My plan was to feed my horses, then CL's, then KN's horse, feed my chickens and pick up some poop. Once CL's horses were done eating, I would then be able to turn everyone lose and go home. Then, I was going to come back in the afternoon, feed Stormy, feed her horses, find a few things to do until her horses were done eating, let everyone lose and go home. That's not what happened.

I didn't sleep well last night, so I slept in this morning. Not a problem since I didn't have to go to work. I'm not sure what time it was when I got there. I get my horses fed, get hay out and start to wonder where CL's horses are. Normally, while I'm caring for my guys, they're right there, waiting to be fed. Not today. That's when I notice 2 minis on the other side of the fence. Great. She had a horse tear down part of the fence again. :he He decided he didn't want the rest of the RB they had, he wanted a different one. So, I head over to get the tractor. That's when I see S.

S is a white pony. She's in KN's field. When I got there, she was in the gelding's field. And, the zebu bull was in KN's field. Great, just great. That means one of them took down some fencing. I notice that the hay is really low in the gelding's field, so I figure while I have the tractor out, I might as well put out a RB for them, too. I get the 2 RB's out. Now, I need to get animals sorted out. KN is away. Her FIL is not doing well, so she and her OH are on their way to see him. (It's an 15 hour drive.) So, I can't call her. RU is away, I can't call her. I don't have a number for either LF, or CL, but neither would be able to help w/the animals, so I call PT. She's was visiting her DD for the day. That meant it was up to me. I got a longe whip and go into KN's field. I open the gate in the back. It's on only one hinge pin. I can't get it back on by myself. So, I figure PT is going to be there later, we could get it done then. Then, I go on the far side of the bull. Now, it's time to try and herd him out, and hope the horses don't go out. I start flicking the whip. He moves, but so does 2 of the horses. The bull didn't stay w/them, and I was able to start herding him towards the back. Next thing I know, he goes thru the fence. There was a broken board.

I call S. She won't come in the gate, and I don't have time to mess w/her. So, I close the gate. There's a gate between the gelding's field and CL's field. And, there's a gate between CL's field and KN's field. I figure I can open the gate to CL's field, get her in there, then open the other gate and get her in where she belongs. I had to put KN's horse in it's stall in order to do this, but it worked. Now I just have CL's horses to worry about. I was able to get them back where they belonged, and do a temp fix to the fence. Then I let out KN's horse, and left. Later, I went back and w/PT's help, got the gate back on it's hinges and put a RB in that field.

Today was a much easier day. I got to the farm. Fed my horses. All of CL's horses were hanging by the gate. I got done w/my guys and went and fed hers, then went down and fed KN's horse. I fed my chickens, fed a mini of RU's, let everyone loose, scooped a bit of poop, then went home, got a shower, something to eat and went to church. After church, came home, relaxed for a bit, then hubby and I left. We stopped at the farm long enough for me to feed Stormy, put out hay, took care of the chickens, fed the cats and we left. Did a bit of shopping, came home, fed the goats, took a nap, went to church, came home and got something to eat. I'd say today was easier than yesterday.

It's hard to believe that in less than 2 weeks, I'll be done working! I am so looking forward to it. I can hardly wait to have a clean house, clean yard, etc.

Today at work, it was fairly easy. I got off 2 hours early. Didn't mind, I wanted to leave. So, I went to the farm. W/all the rain we've had this month, I was behind in my pasture cleaning. So, I got caught up on that again-all except Misty's and Stormy's stall. I didn't feel like putting on my muck boots again, and that's the only way I'm going to be able to get in there easily. The muck would be over the top of my barn boots.

Once I was done w/that, I started on doing some of the weeding around my tack shed. I had thought about working on the fence line, but I'm tired of all the weeds right there. Tomorrow or the next day should see that area done, then I'll start on the fence line.

I've finally figured out how I want to do my chicken/goat area. It may sound small-until you remember that during the day, they'll be free ranging. This is mainly for at night. The total area will be 20'x30', and this will be split in half to make 2 sections that are 10'x30'. The area for the chickens will be divided into 3rds. The main coop will be in the center section. There will be a section on either side of it w/a small house. The doors into these areas will be left open-unless I have a broody. Then, it would be closed until the chicks get to be about 2.5 months old, or so. It will also give me a place to put roosters B4 they go to freezer camp. This area will be covered. And at least for now, Ralph's wings will be clipped. He's no longer roosting w/my girls, but in RU's hen house! So, the only way I'm going to get him back is to teach him where he needs to be.

The other day, I noticed one of the eggs in my incubator was cracked. I took it out, and wiped right there w/a clean dish towel. I hope the rest of the eggs are OK. I'm just not having much luck getting chicks. Penny hasn't started to lay again, Roxi is still laying, but still isn't broody, and now I think Angel is hiding her eggs. I'm thinking of collecting Roxi's eggs again once this batch is done in the incubator. Sunday they go on lock down! :fl

For the first time in I don't know how long, hubby got drunk and nasty. And, when he's like that, he starts to yell and scream at me. I was ready to leave. And he knew it. If the house was clean so I could just pack up and leave, I think I would have done it. I don't know how much of it he will remember, but I told him plain and simple that I will not stay if he's going to yell and scream at me. I'm wondering if I'll be able to wait until next summer to look for a job. I might only be able to take the time off to get everything caught up, then look for something. I refuse to spend the rest of my life putting up w/a drunk. Those of you who pray, please keep me in your prayers. I could really use them.
