Yep, that's pretty much right. I honestly don't know how she really thinks she's helping me. She didn't wake up even when I was splitting up some kindling.
Since my operation, I've been getting quite a bit of pain in the back of my leg. At first, I thought it was something from the operation. And, there didn't seem to be much I could do about it. This morning, I woke up w/it and it finally hit me as to what it was, a cramp!
For anyone that's ever had a bad cramp like this, you KNOW how painful they are. I'm not sure why I'm getting them, and will be talking to the doctor about them. But, I do have one thing that may help. I've just drunk a glass of milk, and it feels much better. So, we'll see. Hubby's left for work, so I think I'm going to go back to bed for a bit. Don't want to go too long, after all, today my DD is taking me out to the farm! I get to see my animals. I'm so glad. I miss them all. I'm just not sure what shoes I'm wearing. I can't find my sneakers, and don't know that I can get my boots on. But, I don't want to wear my slippers-which is all I've worn since my operation. I'm sure I'll figure it out.
From the farm, RU is taking me to my Dr for my post op appointment. Hopefully, I'll find that I can drive! If so, I'll at least be able to take care of my cats. As much as I want to feed the horses, I'm not taking any chances. It would be different if I had a regular barn where I could just dump the feed in their buckets from the aisle, but since I don't have that, I'll wait until i'm given the all clear sign. I just hope it's soon.
OK, I'm falling asleep. Think I'm going to go back to bed for a bit.
OUCH on the cramps! It is probably from not being able to move your leg in the usual way. It may also be the result of a bit of a deficiency in some minerals or something like that since you've been laid up.
I hope it goes away soon!
Hurray for seeing the horses! That always makes me feel better
Good luck at the Dr. too! Being able to drive, and at least take care of the cats, will go a long way to ease your mind and speed your healing
Hate those nasty cramps!! DH and I, as we get older, have started cramping up much more frequently (although it hurts, sometimes we just have to laugh at ourselves- his thumb has begun locking up all the time, and my big toe - when it happens at the same time, we look like quite the pair ). Painful, annoying and frustrating, for sure!
I used to get cramps. My midwife suggested mixed nuts. (and bananas). Yes, I know you are not in need of midwife type of advice, but the advice should be sound for cramps. And shouldn't hurt you even if it doesn't help.
Get out to the farm today and got some dirty looks from the horses. After all, I was there, so therefore I need to feed them. Told them I couldn't but I decided I'd at least make sure everything was all set up for RU. She said she'd feed this morning. I open the metal bin and saw right away that they did not give the horses ANY apples. So, I cut one in quarters, and tried to get the horses to come over. They couldn't be bothered. So, I just stuck them in the little bucket I use for getting the feed out along w/their feed, put the hay cubes in the other little bucket, and put water on them. Then I started in on bagging feed.
First thing I noticed, Stormy had too many bags of feed left. Talked to RU and found out that no one was giving Storm his 2nd feeding. She didn't know he was getting one, so she didn't give it to him.
Then, I get in the tack shed. All of the cans of cat food were still in the same place. So, no one was really feeding the cats properly. Next I check their dry food. The container I had the dry food in was almost completely full. So, not only did they not get the their wet food, they barely got any dry.
Then I check Stormy's hay pellets. W/out counting them, as best as I could tell, not ONE of the bags had been used. But, there was a bag of hay pellets in the tool box.
I could also see that someone had dumped a bale of hay just along the fence instead of in the RB feeder. I never put it there because the horses just walk thru it and waste it. There's much less waste w/it in the feeder.
I found out from RU that the instructions that I had printed out were placed in her tack shed. I don't think ANYONE really read them completely, they just did what they wanted to.
So, the good news is, I don't have to buy feed as soon as I figured. The bad news is, just as I figured, my animals DID NOT get taken care of properly.
In other news, the doctor said cramps are common after my type of surgery. And, he said either the milk like I did or a banana is good for the cramps.
My stitches are out.
I can now drive, so tomorrow I'll be going out in the afternoon to give Storm his second feeding and feed the cats.
I can now start to walk w/out the crutches, I just have to be careful to not overdo it.
I start therapy on Wednesday. I'll be going 3x a week for 4 weeks.
RU and LF want to go to the Expo in February. So, RU is going to book the hotel and the 3 of us will go up together.
And last but not least, for the first time in a week, my horses were almost properly fed! I forgot to tell RU that she needed to shut Misty's door, so I don't know if she got all her feed today or not, but she knows in case she ever has to feed them again. She dropped me off at my tack shed this afternoon to wait for my hubby. So, I let Stormy out and fed him. I also cleaned out his hoof. I cleaned out the litter box, and fed the cats! Then, I sat there and waited, and waited, and waited. I had talked to my hubby and he said he'd be there soon. He finally called. He was almost all the way home. He forgot to come and get me! So, he had to turn around and come back.
This is a prime example of why I am afraid to go anywhere for more than a day. I don't trust anyone with my chickens or my dog. We would really love to go down the hill to visit J's family, but I refuse to entrust my animals to anyone else.
At least your animals got some care. I'm glad to hear you can drive and don't need the crutches! Take it easy and be sure to go to your PT. It's very important!! OK, enough preaching... I'm glad you're up and mobile!!
Sorry your horses didn't get all the care they should have. Hate it when people don't do what they say they will. In my experience for the leg cramps--take magnesium and drink more water! I'm so glad you are getting around a bit and that the healing has begun!!!!!
