Thanks, guys. I'm just glad that I'll be able to feed my own horses. I'm not about to attempt to feed anyone elses. My horses are easy, but even though, I'll be taking a coiled up lead rope for just in case. And, since it's still so wet, I'll be taking a crutch for just in case I need it.

Do you have a cane? That might help to make it a bit easier for you. Just remember to use it (cane and single crutch are the same) on the "good" side, not the "bad" side. That always seemed so backwards to me, but it does help you maintain better balance.
I agree, it is wonderful to be able to feed and care for your own animals. Of course that assumes the weather is nice and not yucky :p
Keep up the good work!

Seriously? Someone dumped water in the whole bag of feed? It seems like that would be common sense NOT to do! In the summer it would spoil in a day around here like that. Winter it would be okay to feed until it was all fed up but still... Wow.

Not in the whole bag of feed, but in the small bag of hay pellets for Stormy's AM feeding. Believe me, I wasn't too happy to see it. I cannot understand why someone would do it. It's not going to save time, in fact IMO, it would take MORE time.

Today for the first time since my operation, I didn't go back to bed after my hubby left for work. I did do a load of wash, but didn't attempt to hang it out, I just threw it in the dryer. Tried to get a fire going, but didn't have enough little stuff in the house, and it wasn't that cold out, so I didn't worry about it. Got the dishwasher loaded, ran it, and washed some dishes. I'm ready to shoot my husband. When he cooks he makes a big mess, and doesn't clean it up. I'm going to tell him that I REFUSE to clean up his mess any longer. It's so not fair to me.

Got to the farm, and for the first time in a week and a half, I fed my horses! I tried to take both crutches out in the field, but couldn't carry the buckets. So, I held the buckets in 1 hand, and use a crutch in the other. I had one horse following me, but I told them to git, and they did. I tried using the crutch w/the good leg, but found I was too off balance, so I switched hands. It felt soooo good. I've only touched Misty and Stormy since I've been out. Today, I touched all of my horses. Then, I went to check on my chickens. Since I never got them moved, it meant I had to go thru CL's field. And, one of her horses came up, wanting to be fed. And, he wouldn't leave! I finally had to take off my belt and smack him w/the tip in order to get him away from me.

I got feed bagged, and got trash collected, fed the cats, gave Storm his 2nd feeding, and went to my doctor's appointments. Came home, fed the goats and rabbits, and brought in a couple of loads of wood. And, I'm beat. This is the most normal day I've had in awhile. It was tiring, but it felt so good. I'm hoping it won't be long until I'm able to do everything w/out having to worry about my leg, and w/out getting so tired.

Actually, I don't feel like I got any thing accomplished! I'm not used to taking it this easy!

The weather is kiling me! It was warm today, and will be warm tomorrow. I saw all these guys on motorcycles-and I can't ride. :hit I wanted to take the blankets off the horses, and couldn't. Sometimes Misty and Licky act up when I do it, and I couldn't take that chance. Plus, it can be hard to get the blankets back on them. That's something I wanted to work on w/both of them, just didn't have the time. :( Plus, I ran into an old friend I haven't seen in ages. We went riding B4, and I've been wondering about her lately so it was great to see her. She doesn't own a horse, but RU would let her ride one, so I'm hoping we can maybe go riding-once my leg heals up.

You were using it on the good side, but walking with the bad leg and the crutch at the same time, right? It seems strange, until you get used to it. That way you're not leaning on the support towards the bad side, but towards the good side which is more stable. It turns you from a bipod into a tripod, and having the third "leg" on the opposite side of the body better balances the body.
Of course getting the chores done is great no matter what!! Way to go!!

I have the problem that my other half just doesn't clean the same way I do. I came in this morning after he "cleaned up" from dinner last night, the counters hadn't been wiped down at all, and he put all the hand washed dishes right over the dishes that were already dry in the dish drain, instead of taking the clean dry stuff out and putting it away first. Our definitions of "clean" are just completely different. I try very hard to just go about my business and clean it up better on my own, but it does get to be a drag after a while.

I think the reason I was off balance is because it's been so wet around here that I was walking in mud. It was pulling on the crutch, so it made it that much harder to walk. The mud around here can be very vicious. I have actually had it pull my muck boots off B4!
