I'm back! Did y'all miss me? :D Ride was good, but it did take more than 15 minutes! I was hoping that w/the route I had mapped out, I'd have at least 1 person who had never been on some of the roads-and I met my goal! :weee The guy that's in charge of the rides had no idea where he was at one point in time. I was in that position several times during the year, so it was nice to get him lost for once!

This is probably the last ride for the year. It's getting dark too early to really have any more good rides. So, that gives me until next year to come up w/a doozy of a ride. I need to find an out of the way ice cream parlor and find some really good roads to go down.

Some days, I wonder why I even bother. I got out to the farm today and found ALL of my horses in the seeded area again. I've been turning off the electric when I work in that area so I can get under the electric rope w/out getting shocked, and forgot to turn it back on when I left. So that meant I had to clean that area again, plus fix the rope. And of course, they broke my posts and some connectors. Needless to say, I was NOT in a good mood this morning.

I have a guy that said he'd sell me RBs for a good price. I was supposed to call him on Monday evening. I called, and got his voice mail. I left a message-and he hasn't called back. I have 1 more RB, and that's it. So I just might have to go to the hay auction after all. I know 1 thing for sure, if I do have to go, I'll be trying to get more than 1 lot of RBs. I'd try to get at least 12 RB this time, then get more the next time I went.

I'm still working on weeding. And, it's taking me a lot longer than I expected. At the rate I'm going, I won't be finished for a couple more weeks. I keep thinking it's going to get easier-and it doesn't. I'm so sick and tired of pulling pig weed. I keep telling myself that next year it won't be as bad, but it's hard to believe at times. Plus, I'll have the whole of the field planted by this time, so that means I'll have 3 more sections to keep weed free as well. It probably wouldn't be as bad if the field was much bigger, but it's not.

Add to all that I'm trying to get done at the farm is everything I need to do around here. It just doesn't seem to get caught up any. I feel like I take 2 steps forward, and 1.99 steps backwards.

OK, now that my wining is done, maybe I should get up and do something?

I feel like the 2/1.99 on a daily basis here! :) My biggest problem is, I stick too many irons in the fire, then wonder why everything ends up only half done

I commiserate!

This morning I found a minor tragedy on my own place - I'd forgotten to pull the retractable elec-fence wire across our front gate last night, and a bear got in, went for apples, and broke off the trunk of one of my semi-dwarf trees! (By climbing, no doubt.) The trunk is splintered about five inches up from the ground. Made me feel sick to look at it.:sick

Of course, I'm more mad at myself than the bear. :somad

We only had four fruit trees - two pears, two apples. Now we're down to three. Thank goodness we have three hazelnut trees, a lot of berry canes & bushes, and a strawberry patch.

After reading Diane's post this morning, I got to thinking. A good deal of my problem for getting stuff done is I lack motivation to a point. OK, that might not be exactly correct, but I have trouble getting started. I'm wondering more and more if I might be deficient in some vitamin. I'm tired all the time, and don't feel like doing anything. If I can get my self moving, I'm OK, but more often than not, I'm happy just to sit back and take it easy. I think I need to find a good doctor in the area who will give me a physical and send me out for some blood work to check my levels.

Get some sheep! I have the one and he's been weeding the yard like crazy! As for the lack of motivation, could you try some st john's wort? I use a tea called "blues away" and it works pretty darned well. I get in the same place you're at... I just don't feel like getting started, but fortunately, if I can get my butt moving, I can get a lot done. Anyways, the tea really helps me. :)

I'm allergic to wool, so sheep are out. And, there's one on the farm and he doesn't eat the weeds. Neither do the goats. They've been locked in areas so they'll eat down the weeds, instead they'll find a way to escape and get into the good hay. :/

I managed NOT to sink into the chair and do nothing this afternoon. Instead, I worked on cleaning my kitchen. I have most of it done. Monday I plan on doing some canning, so having the kitchen clean will be a big plus.

I've thought about St. John's Wort, but haven't really looked into it. I know some people can have problems w/it.

Maybe someone can explain this to me. On the road the farm is on is a dog that will chase motorcycles. And, the owners KNOW this! They called it back one day when it started to chase me. This morning as I went past the house, I caught a glimpse of the dog. Next thing I know, the dog is running across the road, then ran RIGHT in front of me! If I hadn't been able to slow down, I would have hit the dog. I hate to think of what would have happened if I had. Plus, if there had been a car coming the other way, they wouldn't have been able to stop, and they would have hit the dog.

The first 2 times the dog went for me, I didn't do anything. First time, it came out towards, but not all the way to me. The 2nd time was when they called it back. But today, no one was out there. So, as much as I hated to do it, I called the cops. It's now become a safety issue. I normally see a number of motorcycles on that road. And, if this dog keeps running out in the road like this, someone is going to get hurt if not worse.

So maybe someone can tell me why people insist on leaving a dog outside by itself when they know it will chase something on the road?
