Today I finally finished weeding my field! :ya :weee It looks so much better. And, I finished an hour B4 I was planning on quitting weeding for the day. So, I decided I'd start up the mower and clean up some manure. And of course, I couldn't get the mower started. :he I tried jumping it, but had no luck. And, no one had jumper cables w/them. RU is away, so I couldn't see if she had any. So, tomorrow, I'll bring a pair w/me and get someone to give me a jump.

Since I couldn't clean up the manure, I started getting cleaned up where my hay shelter is going to go. I should have that all done by next week! It's starting to look so much better in my area.

I forgot to turn my electric on when I left last night, so of course I found Licky in the seeded area again. And, it wasn't because she didn't have hay. It was just because she could. The brat. No one else tried to get in, and there was still hay that hadn't been touched.

Thanks! I think I'm going to put down some lime and fertilizer to help build up the soil. Hopefully doing that will help me have a nice, healthy pasture and cut way down on the amount of hay I need.

I think I need a new battery for the mower. I hope to get one soon. If I don't start it every couple of days, it won't start. And, w/all the wet weather we had, I wasn't using it. And 3 more weeks and I won't have to worry about Licky ducking under the wire. I'll be opening up that area, and seeding another section. Then, in a few weeks, I'll have to worry about her trying to duck under that section!

Maybe you could find a battery charger to use until you can get another battery :hu Is Licky part mule by chance? She sure sounds awfully stubborn.

I'm positive I replied to this earlier today, but now it isn 't here. If anyone finds a weird reply hanging on to some other thread, it probably belongs here!

That said, Congratulations! It always feels good to finish a long project, doesn't it?

Is there anything you can do to the ground in the seeded area that will make Licky realize the grass is NOT always greener on the other side of the fence? I know with dogs that counter-surf you can put moustrapes upside down on the counter. Wonder what Licky would do with a field full of set mousetraps?

W/as much of a brat as she is, she'd find a way around them! And I'd probably catch a bunch of cats. They also think they need to be in that field. :/ So far, all I've managed to keep out of there are the other chickens, and 3 out of 5 of CL's dogs.

It's going to be cold tonight! We haven't even had a frost yet, and they're calling for a chance of a freeze in the area! :ep So I guess when I get home today, I'm going to have to bring in some wood so I can make a fire.

Congrat's on finishing up with the weeding, Deb! :celebrate

It's raining, again, today so tomorrow I'll be tackling more weeds. I've got a patch of tall ones in the unused section of the drivway that need to go and this rain will make it that much easier! :D

We had our first frost last week but nothing really seemed to get hit except for my pot of Jerusalem Artichokes. My watermelon is still growing, my Lemon Cucumber and tomato plants are still blooming...go figure! :hu The watermelon itself, is about the size of a softball (maybe just a bit bigger) and we've been joking about eating fresh watermelon for Christmas this year! :gig

OK, either she's jumping the fence, or the electric isn't fazing her. I found her in the seeded area again. :he And the electric was on. So, I took the rope down completely, and put up one more strand of electric. If I find her in there 1 more time, she's going to be in big trouble. I'll lock her in Misty's stall w/some hay and water overnight and let her out in the morning. I NEED to get that area limed and fertilized, and I can't do it if she keeps getting in there.
