Glad you had a "HOT one". It is up to 30F tonight. The snow that was supposed to clobber us went south and hit Sioux Falls as well as Rapid City on the far west of the state. We are NOT having spring yet. I am able to see where my garden is SUPPOSED to be but the heavy piles of snow placed there by the snowblower.
The calving season is here but I am hoping to wait until June. My yearlings may not be bred. I am not sure. The bull I had was supposed to be a good breeder but he was very big so I don't know if he was able to visit with my girls like I had hoped.
Do you have any reason to buy that grid material for your stalls that will keep the water away? I used that when I built the barn back east and that was a really good thing. It holds up so well and lets all the drainage go right through.

If this was my property, I'd buy it in a heart beat. But, I don't want to spend all that money and do all that work to then either leave it behind, or have to rip it out when I get my own place. All this work that I'm doing was supposed to be done years ago and someone else was supposed to help me. But, I could very rarely get her to do what needed to be done. The good thing is, once I'm done w/the stalls, there will be NOTHING left that I can do by myself out there other than regular work! And, I'm learning how to do a lot of stuff by myself, so I guess it might be a good thing. I'm going to probably have to put some boards down and drive over them w/the mower to get into the run in to dump the stone, though. Until hubby's able to help me fix the gutter in front of Misty and Stormy's doors, it's almost always wet there. It has just gotten to the point of me not needing to wear boots to get in to feed, and we're supposed to get about half an inch of rain tomorrow.

I know I was looking at a weather map yesterday, and I felt bad for all the people that are still getting all the cold and snow. When I was coming home yesterday, the peach trees were all blooming as well as the magnolia. And, you can see where the leaves are coming out on most of the trees.

We had a line of t storms roll thru last night, so today is supposed to be cooler. And, I'm quite happy about that. I may even need a fire again soon.

How soon will you know if your girls are bred?

I hope it doesn't get cold again cuz we're out of wood and I wasn't able to get it after all. And, I had so much planned for today that isn't going to happen.

Got to the farm, got my guys, CL's horses and KN's horse all fed, then went to my Bible study. We kind of went over time, so it was already late when I got back. Of course, as soon as I get there, Stormy wanted to eat. But, since RU's away and I had to feed all of her horses, I didn't feed him then. Instead, I just let them all into the parking area, walked across my field, threw out the hay for CL's horses as well as some hay for one group of horses. (This way, I can tell whether or not anyone has broken thru a fence B4 I start feeding the group that gets fed. Fill up the water for the minis, get the one mini that gets fed into a stall w/feed, and that's when it happened. I took a misstep, and my ankle turned under me. Talk about painful! I thought for sure I had broken it. (If you combine the 2, that's the closest to how I felt.)

No one was around. After a few seconds, I was able to pick myself up and stagger over to an old couch RU has in the barn for the dogs and dropped down on it. There were 2 things that got me moving. I had 8 more horses to feed, waters to top off and more hay to put out. And, there wasn't ANY ONE I could call to do it for me. The horses were depending on me. Plus, I had ridden the bike. It needs a new front tire and hubby didn't want me riding it until he got the tire on it. I've been keeping a close eye on that tire, and knew I was still safe riding, so I did. But, he would have flipped out if he had had to come over and ride my bike home.

I could tell that my ankle wasn't broken-just very sore. And, I also had a feeling that as long as I had my boot on, it would keep my ankle pretty stable well, I was right. It took me longer, but I got everyone fed. Then, since it's supposed to rain tomorrow, I got hay nets filled for my guys, and FINALLY got the buckets hung were they belong! I checked to be sure they wouldn't interfere w/the gate, and they don't! Gave Stormy his 2nd feeding, got everyone put away and left.

Getting home was torture. If it had been my left ankle, I may not have made it home. I could just barely use the brake. And, putting my foot down was painful as was having it on the foot peg.

Right now, I'm relaxing a bit. I still need to go and feed the animals as well as check everything in the green house. Guess I'm not doing dishes, laundry, firewood or working in the garden tonight.

I'm getting ready to put my boots back on and hobble out to feed the goats. I'm thinking I might grab my crutches for support. :/

Take care of yourself!! The less you do now means the faster you'll be able to get back out there again! (though I know that's almost impossible....)

Well, I called PT up to see when she was going to be there. I HAD to get feed for my horses, and knew there was no WAY I was going to be able to get that out and put away. So, I was hoping she'd be there at a good time to at least help me w/that. Well, she wasn't coming until 4:00. And, she wanted to know if I could pick up feed for RU's rabbits. OK, I've just called you up to see if you can help me unload feed, and you want me to get more feed which I wouldn't be able to unload since I not going to be there at that time?

Then I called up KN. Even though she wasn't really dressed for it-no rain coat, though she did have her muck boots in the bus-her runs were such that she was able to come over. She helped me get the horses fed, get the feed out of my truck and into the cans and get hay out.

W/the exception of when I was feeding animals, checking my plants and when I went into Dollar Tree, any walking I did was on crutches. And, my ankle feels much better today. I checked w/KN as to when she's going to be there tomorrow. I need to put out RBs. I had wanted to do it yesterday-B4 we got all this rain-but couldn't run the tractor. I should be able to do it tomorrow.

It is cold and wet out there. And, other than some small stuff, I'm out of wood. We have one neighbor that has a fireplace. I get along w/them fairly well. And, they have a whole bunch of seasoned wood! So, they told me to take what I wanted. I have a nice, warm fire burning now. I have something else to say about them, but that's for another day. You'll have to wait on it.

In other news, my ankle feels much, much better! As long as I don't do anything stupid, and remember that it's weak, it shouldn't be too much longer B4 it's back to normal! But, since I can't do either of these, , I'll settle for this instead.

I'm glad to hear your ankle is better! My right ankle truns on me every now and then. Once it swoll up and I couldn't walk on it for a week. I'm glad your neighbors had seasoned wood so you have a warm house tonight! Take it easy!
