RU has a couple of hens going broody, so KN offered to set an area up for at least 1 of them. And, I wanted to put some of Roxi's eggs under one. Only problem being, I hadn't seen an egg from her for a few days! Well, today I found out where she was laying them-in the RB feeder! Thankfully, the horses didn't try to eat them, and they didn't get broken from the horses eating! So, I took them out. KN got the area set up, and the hen is in there on some eggs. So hopefully, in 3 weeks, I'll have some chickies!

My ankle is so much better! I'm still using an ace on it, and taking it easy. But, I was able to run the tractor today. So, KN helped me open and close gates, and we got the RBs out! That means tomorrow I won't have as much to do to feed the horses! :celebrate

Hubby and I had a bit of a talk today, and he's starting to come around more and more. He's FINALLY decided that vegetable oil is not good for you, and wants to find some lard we can render down.

Last year, it was about 10 degrees warmer from the beginning of March to the beginning of April than it was this year. We got our electric bill the other day, and it was about the same! We used just under 1200 KW hours for the month. I'm hoping we can get down to under 1100.

Set up some seed mats today to try and start some peppers and eggplants since I got nothing to show from the first batch. And I must say, I really like doing it this way. I'm hoping that they come up and do well. In the not too distant future, I'll be doing some more for other plants as well.

Yesterday, I lost my keys. I knew I had to have had them when I got home. After all, I couldn't have gotten home if I hadn't had them. I looked in the house. I looked in the truck. No luck. I was going to clean out the truck to find them, but didn't have time B4 I had to run to the farm. And, since I have 2 sets, I just used the other one. Went out to feed the goats, and what do I see on the ground right outside of their pen? My keys! So, I guess I don't have to clean out my truck after all. :D

Well, my ankle is a bit worse today, so I'll take it a bit easier. And, they've changed the forecast! They're now calling for a chance of showers. That wasn't in the forecast on Saturday! So, that means I'll be taking the truck.

RU is due back today, so I don't have to feed.

And, I think I just might have to leave my chickens penned up until a bit later in the day. I have a feeling more of them are laying elsewhere. So, I'll keep them in until they're done (hopefully) laying for the day.

be careful Deb. you have WAY TO MUCH work to handle. no one gonna do it for ya right? :) glad you are getting better.
Well, I called PT up to see when she was going to be there. I HAD to get feed for my horses, and knew there was no WAY I was going to be able to get that out and put away. So, I was hoping she'd be there at a good time to at least help me w/that. Well, she wasn't coming until 4:00. And, she wanted to know if I could pick up feed for RU's rabbits. OK, I've just called you up to see if you can help me unload feed, and you want me to get more feed which I wouldn't be able to unload since I not going to be there at that time? :hu
you got me laughing on this one. you call for help and then the conversation turns to YOU helping THEM. ya just can't win Deb! :)

ankle is worse. OW. put that sucker up and try to do anything to make it better! take it slow and heal up!

I couldn't figure that one out either. I don't know how she expected me to get it out.

And yeah, I'm planning on taking it a bit easier. It's impossible for me to take it completely easy-I have too much to do. And, no one is going to do it for me, plus if I don't work on it, it will just get harder. So, I'll work on getting rid of some of the honeysuckle I have growing on my fence. I can get to that easily, so I should be able to do that w/out damaging it more.

My ankle is still hurting, so I didn't do a whole lot today. But, the one thing that I did make sure to get done was to open up the other seeded area. And, the grass is taller in there than it was in the first section. So, that section is now closed off for the next 2 weeks.

This is the next section I'll be working on. I want to do this section properly, so if hubby doesn't have our rototiller fixed, and if RU's isn't working by the time I'm ready to seed, I'm going to have to rent one. Don't want to have to, but I will if I must.

W/all the work that I have to do, it's nice that the horses at least TRIED to help-even if their aim isn't that great. At least I didn't have to move much to get it into the bucket!

And, the chickens seem to be under the impression that the tack shed is a good place to come and relax for a bit. I was sitting inside w/Cindy on my lap when I took this. I don't know how many times I've kicked them out of there.

ETA: Oh, and I'm bad. I found my recipe for no bake cookies, so made a batch and took them to the farm. Didn't tell hubby about them. I figure what he doesn't know can't hurt him. :D

There's still more weeds than I'd like. So this fall, I'll probably rototill up section 1, and reseed it. W/the ground properly prepped and limed, I think the grass would come in even better. Then in the spring, I can do section 2. That way, by next July, I should have a really nice field and save even more money on hay. I know I'm not going to have to put out any hay today, though I probably will for just in case.

And notice, one of them had to poop right on the mat! :lol

Today, I got 8 eggs! Only one of them tried to hide her egg, but I was able to find it, so that was good. Still taking it a bit easy since my ankle was still hurting, but it's feeling better now. So, hopefully I'll be able to put in a whole day's worth of work tomorrow. I did manage to get some dishes done, and some of the honeysuckle off the fence at home. And at the farm, all I did was clean up poop and recover a RB. It's the one I'm taking hay off of now and is in the parking area. It must be really good hay cuz the horses want to eat that instead of grazing! So, I put up some "electric" around it. (Not really, it's just some rope, but the horses don't know that. :hide) Tomorrow, I'll be putting some boards along the bottom of the stalls and trying to get my mower started. If I can, I'll be able to dump the cart, and hopefully also start getting the stones in the stalls!
