I'm tired! But, other than some dishes, my house is the cleanest it's been in years! I never got outside until after everyone left and by then it was getting dark. I could see the goats from my kitchen window, and they still had hay. Plus, since their water bucket is heated, I knew they had water. I also knew that once it warmed up, the temps would rise in the green house and at least partially melt the water for the roosters, so I didn't worry about them.

OK, now I'll tell you about the lunch. This is for all the boarders out at the farm, plus people that we ride with. We've had it at RU's in the past, but she has a habit of talking over plans w/someone and never following thru. So this year, I grabbed the bull by the horns and went ahead and planned it myself. Everyone brings a dish to share and we have a gift exchange. In the past, you were supposed to buy something for one person for around $10-$15. I came up w/an idea a few years ago to instead buy everyone a gift and you're not supposed to go over a dollar. (Of course, some people still do, but that's on them.) And everyone enjoys this. There is the challenge to finding that perfect gift. I'll actually start looking early if I can.

Once everyone got here and got their food, we watched a horse movie. Out of all the boarders, I have the best set up for that. DS got us a 55" TV a few years ago. We also have surround sound. So, it's almost like you're in a movie theater.

When everyone left, I ran out and took care of the goats and roosters, then ran out to the farm and took care of everyone out there. By the time I got done, it was dark. Got home, and put the leftovers away. Now I'm relaxing and thinking of going to bed early.

Sounds like a great time and a fun idea! I'm going to have to file that one away for future reference!

It is. And, depending on what Wally World you go in, you can get 2 pairs of those stretch gloves for under a buck! I gave away some of those, and people really appreciated them.

I used up the last of my bread yesterday making my dinner. So I was hoping I'd have enough time this afternoon to try out my new mixer and make more. They cancelled church cuz the road is a sheet of ice. So, it looks like I have enough time.

Well, I got it mixed up, and it's in a bowl rising. So, we'll see.

It's actually in the 40s today! And for the first time since we got the snow, I went the normal way to the farm. For now, the roads are pretty good. There are still a few bad spots, but not many. And, since it's not supposed to get below freezing until some time tomorrow, they should stay clear.

What a change a day can make! It's almost 60* out there and most of the snow is gone! There is a chance for some rain, but if it doesn't rain, I'll be getting some stuff done outside-namely getting my field cleaned and getting wood and snow out of the back of my truck. Tonight, the temps are going to drop again and tomorrow is going to be bitterly cold. Come Wednesday, it's going to be more normal around here and I should be able to get another load of wood by Thursday. So, my list for today:

1. Put away a load of clothes
2. Practice piano
3. Take stuff out of the back of my truck
4. Feed animals and put out hay
5. Clean field-and that's going to take quite a bit of doing!
6. Feed Stormy, bag feed and take care of chickens
7. Feed goats
8. Take down tree
9. Clean living room
10. Make and eat dinner
11. Do dishes

I feel like I'm missing something, but don't know what. If I have time, maybe I'll work some outside while everything's at least partially thawed out.

We didn't make it that warm. We're in the 40s with stiff winds blowing and the temp is supposed to really fall. I believe our low is 2 tonight. Crazy!

Figured out what I was missing on my list, I wanted to work on cutting up some more wood. But, that didn't happen. We were supposed to have some light showers this morning, and they were supposed to be gone by around 10:00. Then later today, the temps were supposed to drop. So I waited to go out to the farm until the radar showed the rain was out of the area. I get to the farm, get everyone fed, clean up the manure around the RB feeder and start putting out hay. It started to rain again, and I had no rain coat. But, I kept on. Ge the hay all out and let the horses loose. Then I started to work on cleaning the field.

As much as I hated to do it, I had to put everything that I was cleaning up on Mt. Manure. Between the melted snow and the rain we got, the farm is saturated. In fact, the riding arena is so flooded, that w/as cold as it's going to get, I can probably go ice skating. I get one section of the field cleaned, and it started to rain harder. So, I headed for the run in. It was so dirty I lost track of the number of buckets of manure, mud and hay I took out. I figured it would stop raining. It didn't. I get done that, and go back to cleaning the field. I'm now getting wet and growing cold. Then it started to snow! As soon as I saw the snow I said, that's it! I'm done. Got Stormy fed, bagged feed, took care of the chickens and left. I was so glad I hadn't let the fire go out. I was able to put some wood in and start to thaw out and dry off.

Made myself some lunch, then crashed for about 20 minutes. Once I was up, I did most of the dishes, then fed the goats, roosters, dumped my ash bucket and brought some wood in. I also got the wood out of the back of my truck and since it had stopped raining, uncovered the wood I still need to cut up. Came in, got my shower, then folded and put away the laundry.

Now I'm relaxing. Dinner is going to be some leftover chili and home made bread. I'll probably get to bed early tonight.
