The RP is done! I put Licorice in there first and had no problem working her at all. Then LS got in there w/Willow, and LS got her first lesson in RPing a horse. I have a feeling that someone who didn't quite understand how to RP a horse has done this w/Willow B4 and that Willow knew how to get out of work. When she wasn't allowed to do what she wanted, she got upset.

I don't think she'll be hard at all. I'm hoping we can work her some again today.

Yay!!! I love it when you can USE something you've been working so hard to accomplish! I bet that will make life so much better!
Most horses do come around once they understand what the goal is. It is easy to screw up round penning and cause the horse to be more anxious and freaked out, or lazy, one or the other! Having the horse be balanced and willing to work is not as easy as many people make it out to be.

You have that right! So many people think the join up is the goal of working a horse in the RP, and it's not. It's basically the beginning. Once you get a horse to truly join up, the rest is much easier. I've worked w/horses that have learned all they have to do is fake joining up, and they get out of work because the person doesn't know what to do. Willow tried it yesterday. She wasn't allowed. That's when she got upset. I was going to work w/them both today, but woke up w/hubby's cold. So after I fed everyone, I went in my shed and took a nap!

I'm not sure what, if anything, I'm going to get done. I almost never get a cold and this is the 3rd one I've had this year. But, I put vapor rub on my feet last night, and feel much better today.

Hubby is doing a big project at work. He can only work for 14 days, then has to take a day off. Since that would have fallen on a Sunday, he decided to take off today instead. He was going to take off yesterday since it was my birthday. Yesterday the weather was much better than today, and I had a lot I wanted to get done-including riding Misty. I got very little of it done because of how I felt. And the wind was really blowing. Misty can spook when we have the wind that bad, and I wasn't up to dealing w/it. So, I didn't ride. Today, there's going to be rain and even some T'storms, so it's a much better day for him to be off. I don't know that we'll get anything done. That's fine w/me. I think we could both use a day to just relax. I do have my chiropractor's appointment this afternoon. I'm hoping he doesn't come w/me. I want to go to some stores, and can't w/him along.

I'm waiting for him to get out of my way in the kitchen, then I'm hoping to get some dishes done, and find some breakfast. So far, all I've had is a cup of coffee.

Thanks. I feel much better. I took a long nap today, and didn't really do anything.

Had a good day today. Taking it easy for most of the weekend really paid off. I finally got the rest of my starts transplanted into bigger containers, but am holding off on starting more seeds. If they come up, I have no place to put them. It's supposed to warm up after this weekend, so I'll start them then.

Since they were calling for rain this afternoon, I went out and worked in the garden. I didn't get done as much as I wanted. I couldn't find my hand cultivator. So, I did the best I could w/out it.

At the farm, I got everyone fed, then worked some in the hay stall. I want to get my hay out to the farm, but needed to put down another pallet, and couldn't fit it in. I managed to get some stuff moved around, then cut a pallet since it was a hair too big. I think I may now be able to fit the rest in. It's just going to take me awhile to get it out.

W/that done, I made a frame to hold a water pan for the chickens. I have the black rubber bowls in all of the pens so that if they need water while I'm not there, someone can use the watering can I have there to give them water. Only problem being, they keep dumping the bowls and moving them away from the fence. I had enough wood to make one. It seems to be working. I'll be able to tell better tomorrow. I also moved the waterer in that pen. Where I had it, it was being blown by the wind, knocked by the chickens and pooped in since they were roosting above it. It is now hanging off of the nesting box. That seems to be a better place for it. Then, I cleaned that house.

After that, I went up front and worked on getting the old chicken houses clean. I need to do some repair work to them, get them cleaner, then paint them and see if I can sell them. I didn't want to get into it today because of the weather. The rest of the time was spent cleaning up around my tack shed. I brought home some stuff, trashed some stuff, and put some down back. I also started to pick up the stone I have in the "outhouse".

Once I got home, I put 4 more bales of hay in the Blazer, fed everyone, then started to work in the garden. I now have enough done so that I can get my peas planted! I still need to clean up a bit more so I can get the rest of the early stuff in.

I had put all my starts in the greenhouse this morning, but it's supposed to get cold tonight! So, I had to bring them all back inside. I'll be so happy when I don't have to bring them in and out anymore.

And, I got some of my dishes done, vacuumed the living room and made dinner. I think I'm going to go to bed soon.

In spite of having 3 colds this year, I'm seeing progress! Yesterday, I managed to get some of my peas in the ground. Didn't have enough time to set up all 4 cattle panels that I use for my vine crops, but I figure the one I did get set up w/peas planted on both sides is better than nothing. And, my bathroom is clean.

I clipped the wings of my home flock yesterday. That's the first time I've ever clipped wings! I just didn't get them short enough. So, I'll be trying again, I'm just not sure when. I need to do it in the morning and it's just too cold out there now. I have a feeling there's not going to be many peaches around this summer. It's down in the 20s and the peaches are in full bloom. Plus, it's going to be cold again Saturday night. I'm glad that the neighbors decided they didn't want the rest of the firewood they have and have told me to take it. I just don't have time to do wood right now. Plus, they're calling for rain tomorrow and Saturday. If those days are wash outs, I plan on getting a ton done inside.

Hubby has left and I need to get trash and recyclables out, and get dishes done and clean as much of the kitchen as I can. I have a volunteer meeting this morning, then I'm heading to Lowes. I need some wood, so I figure this is a good day to get it. I just hope I can fit the 2x4x10s in the Blazer!
