23 chicks is great! You apparently have an active auction to sell and that makes it worthwhile. They sure are cute to watch with their hen. I love to see that interaction.

Same here. I doubt that I would have ever gotten to where I am w/chickens if it wasn't for this forum. Y'all are a bad influence!

Got a lot done today. Hubby and I went shopping this morning B4 the crowds got there. That was probably a good thing. I wouldn't have been up to going later.

Once we got home and we got the food put away, I left for the farm. It was a bit later than normal, but not too bad.

Got everyone fed, then went to check on my broody. She was out w/the 5 babies that hatched yesterday. I checked in the house and both eggs were pipped. One was peeping, but not the other one. So I took them and stuck them under the other hen. When I noticed her off her eggs, I went and checked the eggs. The one had hatched! So, I put it back w/the momma. She settled right down on it, so she looks like a good broody. I checked on her a few times thru out the day, and she was taking good care of that one. So, it should be OK.

Got most of my next broody house done. And what I have done is painted. Tomorrow I'll put the last couple of pieces of wood where it needs to go, then get the rest painted. On Sunday, I can put it where it needs to go and put the roof and window on.

I was also able to work on the fence! I needed to replace a fence post. I couldn't even find the bottom of the one that's broken, so I just dug a hole for the new one and got the old one off. I also got 2 strands of old electric done. I HATE the wire that was up. It's very thick and hard to work with. I will be putting electric up, just not that thick.

I was so hot and tired by the time I left that I came in and relaxed when I got home rather than feeding the goats. I need to go and do them, then make dinner, do dishes and get a shower. I'm looking forward to getting clean.

Yay for all the chicks! That's great!
Glad you got the fence done, or mostly done. I know what a pain in the butt that can be.
We still haven't gotten our chicken coop designed... REALLY need to get that done!

I've been busy. I'm now up to 27 chicks. I got all of the fence line between my field and RU's cleaned up. That was a pain! And, I got 1 roll of fence up there. I have 2 more rolls to put up and hope I'll be able to get that done this week.

Once I get that done, I need to clean up all the junk that I took out of the field and just dumped in a pile in the entrance area to my field. I'm hoping to get that done this week as well. It might rain on Friday.
