:celebrate :weee :clap :ya :woot :thumbsup :bun I'm just a tad bit excited. I wasn't sure what to expect from my kids for Mother's Day. I told my hubby he didn't need to get me anything, after all, I'm his wife, not his mother and he just bought me an incubator, so I didn't care if he got me anything or not. And, Mother's Day is one of 3 days during the year I WILL NOT go out to eat, the other's being Father's Day and Valentine's Day. The restaurants are just too crowded.

I get home from church, no one is home, so I start doing some more cleaning up in my basement. I knew the kids would be home around 1:00, 1:30 and I figured if I can get enough done, I can get my table in the house, and get my incubator set up.

My daughter got home first, no sign of my son, so I continued to work until I got the space cleaned up enough, still no sign of my kid. So, I decided to sit back and relax. Then, my son shows up, and they both give me a card. I don't say anything, but I'm a bit disappointed. I went thru all that work to have them, about 36 hours of labor w/my son, and about 12 w/my daughter and that's all I get? My son did bring my new grand puppy over so I got to see her finally. (White husky w/blue eyes.) We took her out in the yard to see how she reacted to the animals. She will NOT be out in my back yard unsupervised, ever! She wanted to chase the chickens, wasn't sure what she wanted to do w/the goats, and she went into the goldfish pond chasing a frog. (I don't think my son was overly happy about that!)

So, I start to take the junk off the table that I have in my hay shelter. I'm not paying much attention to the rest of the family. I just want to get done so I can get the table in my basement. Then, my daughter comes in the back yard, carrying a box. They got me a new bread machine! Mine broke, and I don't want to buy store bought bread. I've been dreading making it during the summer cuz I don't want to heat up the kitchen anymore than I have to. Now, I can make bread all summer long, white if my daughter wants it, wheat for me, and if they have a recipe for rye, rye for my husband!

I got the table all cleaned off and my hubby decides that rather than carrying it the way it is, he was going to take the legs off first, so we do. Then, the table is carried in, the legs put back on and I wiped it off. Then, I went and got my incubator, and have it all set up. I just need to plug it in, which I'll be doing tonight. So, if I'm able to get the temp right, and am able to keep it right, I'll be putting eggs in tomorrow morning! So, I could very well have some chicks soon.

I also was finally able to find a home for my one rooster. He's one I couldn't bear to butcher, I really wanted to just find a good home for him. He' a pretty rooster, and he's good w/the girls. There's just too many roosters out at the farm, and he's aggressive to the others. Ralph looks like he's missing an eye, and I think it's due to Pretty Boy. So, Pretty Boy has been in an old rabbit cage for the past couple of weeks. I'll be taking him to his new home tonight.

I'll be leaving soon to go to my mom's. I'm taking 7 bales of straw w/me. I'm selling them to her neighbor. That will give me some of the money back that I spent on them, plus a few bucks extra!

So, today has turned into a pretty good day.

I'll be making bread tomorrow, I'm almost out. And, I have the incubator plugged in! So, I'll see how it is in the morning. I did suggest to Renexplorer (or however she has her name on here!) that once these eggs hatch out, we should try some turkey eggs.

I'm not to that point, yet. For now, I just don't have the time.

How cool, you got a bread machine. My son got me an ice cream maker! So next party, I'll bring the ice cream and cake and you bring the sandwiches.

My husband bought me an incubator for mother's day, but he never waits for the actual day, so my chicks will be ready just a little ahead of yours. :tongue

Course now that I did that, I won't get any chicks. But I tried candling them yesterday and every single one seems to have a "cloudy mass" so either they are all viable or all dead, one or the other. But I'll be just 10 days or so ahead of you if you start tomorrow. My incubator holds 41, what kind did you get?

I have the Little Giant. It's not what I really want, but it will do for now. Eventually, I'll get the one I really want. I'm hoping to get some chicks to sell. Roosters will be dinner. I want to see if I can get the chickens to pay for themselves and then some.
