Well, I didn't get everything done on my list today. Hubby decided that he wanted to can hot peppers, and wouldn't leave me alone! So, I never got to my tree project. And, since he was making a mess in the kitchen, I wasn't able to get all the dishes done. :( Now I'm trying to relax and he's been drinking, so he won't shut up! I think he may be getting the message that I want him to leave me alone. I hope so!

And, isn't it a shame at times that we can't?

Well today's list is going to be tiring, but good!

1. Iron shirts
2. Practice piano
3. Feed animals and bag feed
4. Replace 3 fence posts
5. Pick field, and rotate wires
6. Feed Stormy, put out hay, take care of chickens and Cindy
7. Go to the store
8. Do a load of laundry
9. Work on cleaning living room
10. Make bread
11. Feed goats
12. Work in garden
13. Do dishes
14. Work on 4-H lessons for the year
15. Collapse

For now, I'm taking a break from my tree project. I want to get my 4-H lessons for the year all done for just in case I get sick for a meeting again. And, since we do a craft every month, I need to get some stuff ordered for that.

Putting in those 3 fence posts took longer than I was expecting! 2 of them were easy to get out. The one was an end post, so it was fairly easy to dig around the part that rotted off in the ground and yank that out. One was one that I broke w/the tractor. So, I didn't have to do any digging to get it out. But the 3rd one was a bear! It was in the middle of the fence line and there was a young mulberry coming up next to it! In order to dig around it, I first had to get rid of the mulberry and that wasn't easy. It wasn't very big around, so it was hard to get a chain to stay wrapped on it. I'm not sure how many times I had to wrap the chain around it B4 I finally got it right and got it out. Then I had to get dug around the rest of the fence post and get that out. I'm not sure how many times I had to do that B4 I finally got enough dug and was able to get it out.

Once I had them all out, then I had to put the new posts in. For the one, I had to make the hole bigger. It's holding up a gate. It wasn't supposed to since there's a really big one on the other side, but that one wasn't put in straight. (I wasn't the one to put it in!) And, the post that rotted wasn't that big around. So, I put in a wider post. Had no trouble getting it in and getting the fence reattached, but I can't hang the gate! The things that screw into the post for hanging the gate on would NOT come out of the old post, so I just tied the gate real good. As long as no one messes w/it, I shouldn't have a problem w/it.

I thought I had more good posts. I forgot that I had already used 2. And the ones that I had were ones that I found. (Someone dumped them in the woods) They're actually for stockade fence and are a little long, but the biggest problem is the one had some type of hardware on it that I couldn't get off! The nuts were rusted in place. I decided that I wasn't going to worry about it, and just stuck the post in the ground. I figured I'd finish it tomorrow. Go and get hay out. We had rain the other day, and I knew that it had puddled some in my tarp and pulled it down. But, I didn't realize how much water there was until I went to put it back over the bales! And since I had moved the wires, it meant that the horses could get to the one side of the hay! So I went and got my camping shower, put the pump end in the water and turned it on. I left it and went and worked on that post. I got my hacksaw out and was able to cut off the nuts and get the hardware off. W/this post, I was lucky. I didn't have to do any digging. I just put it in the hole and nailed the fencing back on.

By the time I was done doing this, one section of the tarp was basically empty. But, there were still 2 more spots that had water in them. So, I set up the shower in another section and went and rounded up my chickens. Then, I got a rope. I just didn't have time to wait any longer. I tied the rope in such a way that it should keep the horses out. I'll get the rest of the water pumped out tomorrow and get the tarp back in place. I'm going to have to get the bales closer together to keep the tarp from doing this again.

I left a lot later than I wanted to. And I STILL had to go to the store. I have no bread and no flour. So, I got that as well as a couple of other things I needed then finally got home. Fed the goats, pulled a few weeds in the asparagus bed, then went in and started working on by bread. By that time, it was just after 6:00. Once I had that rising, I got started on the dishes. I got some, but not all of them done. I also made dinner. Bread is done and I need a shower. I don't think I'm working on my 4-H lessons tonight. I'm beat.

I'm still tired! I would love to have slept in, but couldn't. But since I have my appointments today, my list shouldn't be as bad.

1. Iron shirts
2. Wash clothes
3. Practice piano
4. Clean bathroom
5. Feed farm animals and bag feed
6. Pick field
7. Work w/at least 1 horse, if not more-including grooming. I'm hoping we get at least one more hot day. They could all use a good bath, but I don't like to do it if it's too cold out. (I always end up wet.)
8. Feed Stormy, put out hay, take care of chickens and Cindy
9. Go to my appointments
10. Feed goats
11. Work in garden
12. Make and eat dinner
13. Dishes
14. Work on 4-H lessons
15. Collapse

Since I'll have the truck, I'm planning on bringing the old post home w/me. That way, I can see what I have at home that will get those screws off so I can hang my gate!

Today's list is going to be a bit different since I got 2 baskets of peaches yesterday for $12.00! I'm not sure how much work I'm going to get done around the house. So, here goes.

1. Put away laundry
2. Practice piano
3. Put out trash and recyclables
4. Feed farm animals, bag feed
5. Pick field
6. Work w/at least one horse
7. Feed Stormy, take care of Cindy and the chickens
8. Stop at my parents to check on their plants
9. Wash and hang out clothes
10. Work on peaches
11. Feed goats
12. Work in garden
13. Make and eat dinner
14. Do dishes
15. Clean kitchen
16. Work on 4-H lessons
17. Collapse

So far as the peaches go, I might not get them all done today. But I'm planning on putting some in the dehydrator, canning some as diced peaches, making jam, and making pie/cobbler filling. If I can the peaches as halves, they don't get eaten, so I'm going to try them as diced or sliced.

I have noticed that as well. If you cut each half into sections you will see a different response. Not sure why but I find that to be the case. I have also noticed that when they are canned in halves you don't get very many in the jar and have to use a LOT of jars to accomplish the task. I have also learned that pint jars seem to be easier to finish at the table. Quart jars just seem to languish in the fridge after the first opening. Pint jars get consumed at one sitting. (my experience only, YMMV)

For a lot of things, I've found that smaller jars is better than large.

I got almost NOTHING on my list done today! Talk about a messed up day!

I got up, got hubby off to work and got the trash and recyclables out and washed a load of clothes. Once that was done, I got started on the peaches. My dehydrator has 8 trays, so I filled all of them up and turned it on, then hung out my clothes. I decided that I was going to go the farm a bit early, get everything done early, then go home so I would have several hours to work on everything. So I get to the farm, get everyone fed and while I'm waiting for Stormy to finish I start to pick my field. First, I had RU show up. She had 2 RBs in the back of her truck, and wanted to unload them in the parking area. So, I had to chase horses out so she could get in. While we were doing this, KN showed up. She didn't have any extra runs and wanted to work w/Honey. We get the RBs out, RU pulls out and KN backs her bus in. Since we both wanted to use the RP and I had other stuff to do first, I told her to go ahead and use it first.

She disappears, I manage to get the horses out into the parking area and go back to picking the field. KN calls. She's hurt and real dizzy. So I ask where she is, hop on my bike and ride down. Talk about scared. She's on her side right up against a gate and all the horses are around her. My first plan had been if she was up to it to put her on the back of my bike and ride her up. No way I could do that. RU wasn't home, she had gone for another load of hay. But, PT was there so I tried to call her phone. She doesn't answer. So, I cup my hands around my mouth and start calling for her. She can hear me, but can't understand what I'm saying. So she calls. I tell her to bring her car down. She does, we're able to get KN into the car. She had been going to just take her up to the house, but instead, they went to the ER.

I figured I'd let RU know B4 I got started working w/a horse since I figured PT wouldn't be able to stay at the ER since she also drives a school bus and would have to leave to do her PM run. So, I went back to picking the field. RU gets back and I go and tell her. She lost her phone! I tried to call it, but we didn't hear it ringing. So, she has no idea where it could be. So that meant that when KN was ready to leave, she was going to have to call me. I help RU get the hay unloaded, she goes and gets another truck load and I finish picking my field and bag field. But I decided NOT to work w/a horse. I didn't want to get started and have to stop.

RU gets back, I help her unload. Then I help her hang a gate and eat lunch. She had to go to TSC, so I went w/her. (Got a pair of jeans and a pair of capris w/a belt for $20.00!) While I was in there, KN called. She was done in the ER and needed to be picked up. So we went and got her, then went back to the farm.

By now, it's after 3:00. So I didn't even go to my parents, I just went home. Checked the peaches in the dehydrator, they were done, so I took them out and started on some more to put in. Hubby gets home. He wanted to take an old TV to his mom's for the girl (Nozi? she's Ukrainian)that's living there. But, he wasn't sure if he could get it out of the car and into the apartment by himself. So, I went w/him. We weren't supposed to be long. We get there, find out his SIL was supposed to come over that day and do some food shopping, but she never made it. So hubby took Nozi to the store to get stuff that's needed while I stayed w/his mom. They finally get done and get back. By this time, it's almost 8:00! We had been going to go out for dinner. It was just too late. Instead, we called a sandwich shop ordered sandwiches and figured we'd swing by there on the way home and get them.

We get there and found out that they didn't listen when hubby ordered! They only had 1 sandwich ready instead of 2. :he So, they had to make another one.

I've eaten and now I'm sitting here thinking that I should really get off of here and go to bed.
