Dentist--ARRRgghh

I hate needles and had one really bad dentist before. Now the sound of a drill or dremel is enough to clench my teeth.
It will be a New Years resolution to get the one tooth taken care of that 's been a problem. If they want to knock me out- with pills or gas, no problem.

hey --come in ---we make sure you feel nothing....you will be fine and never know you had a dentist visit.....I bet they make a great business!!!!!!

I thought about calling but it was on the other side of Charlotte...too far to drive for painless and totally forgetable visits

I am glad your appointment went well!

I love going to the denist and getting my teeth clean...maybe because I obsessively floss and brush at home! LOL! Most of my kids like to go too! The denist is a great friend of ours....goes to our church, gives us deer meat, corn, and apples every year.


My mom on the other hand went the day before yesterday and got a terrible report! Her teeth have been bothering her for a while so she finally went and they said that her teeth are spaced in such a way that bacteria has gotten down between them and has now rotted out her jaw bone and her teeth are slowly going to start falling out and they are already very loose...thus causing her so much pain. Because it is the bone that is disappearing she will not even be able to get false teeth. Her goal now is to try and keep her teeth for as long as she can. They told her it was hereditary!

YIKES!

Ok, I'm going to try to call the dentist tomorrow...because THIS scares me more than the dentist!

I'm fairly certain I'm going to need a root canal....

Wow you totally lucked out! Every time I go there they find things. I have lousy enamel on my teeth, always something.

I say if they ever have to do an IV on me- use a 2x4 first, The brick still sounds kinda bad.

I GOT AWAY SO EASY!!!

cracked tooth is just a small chunk of silver filling that broke loose....so easy fix. not today though, he didn't have time. So I just have to go back next week for a simple filling change to correct that small chunk...about 20 mins. to fill he said....Yippee

And took full set of x-rays and teeth are perfect...Yeah---no other work other than fixing this filling break in 2 weeks.

go for cleaning next week---THOSE I am not scared of at all....LOL


and NO, they don't do gas (nitrous oxide or whatever it is)---they give ya pills.....WA HOO....I got a prescip for Diazapam and she said a pill makes you not care about anything! She said so many of their patients take the pill 1 hr. before the appt and they breeze thru the appt without fears...


So I have to say all was not bad....but my heart was in my mouth when I first went in but as the appt progressed and all seems to be cool---I got so happy...LOL


pills are my friend, pills are my friend...LOL....will get prescrip filled and right now I sure am not worried about the filling appt. in a few weeks.

Diazepam is generic Valium. I take two. I have a high tolerance for drugs though.

she said take 2.....but I will start with 1 and see if it takes the edge off...she said kids get 1, adults need 2....but I am not a pill person so experiment on one first.

the prescip says 5 mg only...seems small?

5mg is what I take if I need it. If you're a light weight 2 may be a little much. I took 3 once on a plane and it was a bit much. May have been the double rum and coke though. I've always been a more is better kind of guy. That's why I don't drink anymore.

Lucky - I don't even have enamel on my teeth, born without. I have bad spots all over, and several chips, not looking forward to any of that in the future. I like to think I try take pretty good care of my teeth too..

My dentist is a lunatic. Not kidding. He'll be drilling away and telling me jokes and laughing himself silly - and they aren't even funny. He's also extremely belittling to patients from what I've been told, fortunately he's only been a raving loony toon towards me. Last time my friend Missy went to him she had a crown put in and he said "Now if you come back needing another one then I'll know you've been sucking on cigarettes, candy, and your boyfriend's ****" and she never went back after that. He's probably lucky she didn't rip him a new one.

Although last time time he gave me ten anesthetic shots without numbing the areas first. Lovely.
