I'm with you, FC......can't stand the thought of going to the dentist! :hide

You see, I don't numb. At all. They give me shot after shot and nothing happens to numb the pain...they don't work! :barnie

So, any trip to the dentist is fraught with pain, anxiety, more pain and a face I can't feel but a mouth that I can....OUCH! :hit

I currently have two~count them~TWO broken molars that are painful and I can't see my way through to actually going to the dentist for the excruciating pain to correct them.

You would think, with all the advances in medicine, that dentistry would be one field they would concentrate on......you know...some kind of painless, laser dentistry that is noninvasive and only takes 15 min. each time...... :p

don't be scared Quail
as much as I despise it (and I sure do with the fast heartbeat and sick feeling of having to go) I did it and survived...lol

once done you are done for a while...not like we have to go back each week for 52 weeks straight...LOL

when the teeth are fixed, then you get a good long reprieve from having to go again usually.

drag yourself to go if you must, I did. and in the end it is worth it...but I have a hard time saying that and smiling..HAHA

Just have them put you under with general anesthesia. Either that or do it like they did in the good ole days. Bottle of whiskey and a pair of pliers.

Most dentists will not attempt a general in their offices...too risky. Actually, I don't go under well with a general anesthesia either....they have to give me tons and have a hard time getting me back, if you know what I mean. :p After I come out of it, I get shocky and throw up my lunch from the third grade..... :sick

When I had my C-section they started cutting on me~twice!~ and I wasn't numb...they couldn't believe it! It took two more doses before I couldn't feel them cutting.....it felt like someone taking a hot poker and running it across my abdomen. :barnie

Needless to say, I avoid surgery and dentistry like the plague! :hide

Last time I had to have a broken tooth pulled, I asked the dentist to prescribe a tranquilzer. I got a prescription for one pill. I hallucinated cats jumping out of cupboards and off of shelves onto me for the hour I was home before heading out to the dentist, but I really didn't care what he did by then. He also used several injections AND gas. Woo-hoo!

I sold nutraceuticals to my dentist last time, and he gave ME a check before I left!!!! And he re-ordered since then!
