I tell my kids all the time, we may not have any money, but we are the richest people on earth as long as we have each other.

But on the flipside I also tell them what does Mick say? "You can't always get what you want, but if you try real hard you just might find you get what you need." I have decided to have that song played at my funeral dedicated to my kids one last time(I'll get the last word in won't I?).

Ok so like the movie The Big Chill, was great while I was in college. My girlfriend allways had plans to buy an old barn and live in it. We were supposed to meet at her house what like 20 years later. Heck that would be this year. Oh my goodness. anyways, I love that song as well. g

I have started working towards being SS but just started this year. I literally have backyard chickens. My garden turned out awful. I am realizing just how much my mom never taught me. Everything they get or want comes from the store. My mom can't believe all the stuff I have learned since I was never raised this way. I hunt, I raised meat chickens this year and processed myself. She just doesn't get it sometimes I think. They always ask if I've gotten this or that done. Things that they would have put at the top of their list like vacuming out the garage even though DH will be down there in a couple days welding again trying to get something finished. I stay at home and take care of four boys, I have been making home made bread since April. Haven't bought a single loaf from the store since then. I make my own laundry soap. And I am trying to learn other things constantly. I tell her I haven't gotten to it becasue I am busy and I just don't think they get it. Well when this world falls all the way apart the will come knocking on my door wanting help because they didn't even think of how to be SS. Sorry for the ranting :duc

My sister keeps trying to get me to go visit her in the city 4 hours away from here. I don't have time in the summer between gardens and chickens and everything else we always have going on here. She always tells me to get rid of my chickens...can't figure out why I bother with "dirty old birds". I don't like the city either so I haven't been there in three years...not to mention she lives in some old mansion that she insists is haunted. I really just couldn't be bothered with discussing ghosts all weekend during a visit there. That seems to be her main topic of conversation.

I hate city driving and barely ever go to town here unless I need to. I am not a shopper, and she is. It just seems like we have nothing in common anymore....

"blushing" Thanks for that sometimes I really need the support. I seem to be the only one who wants to put the effort out and feels very strongly that it needs to be done before things get to bad.

I am the same way with my sis. She's into a bunch of different things. She ahs different parenting styles, and view on alot of things. It seems we get along better if we don't see each other that often.

And I hate city trafic and shopping too!!! See? not only could we be neighbours on Watabeag lake, we might even be like sisters. :)

I hear you on the different parenting styles too...I bite my tongue ALOT with her but she always critisised my parenting:>) It's funny to say but my sis and I get along better if we don't see each other that often either. I can't stomach the way she treats her husband, but hey, he doesn't seem to mind too much...so that is thier relationship.

Yup we just might end up two old bitties on Watabeg lake closer than sisters North:>) I'm making my cabin plans...LOL!
