Got down to negative eighteen this morning. Just three degrees shy of breaking my record of the coldest temps I've ever seen here. Well, folks, that's all I've got. I'll get back to you when something actually happens. :p

Wohoo! Finally, interesting things have happened!

In the midst of this mid-week storm (this is what, the fifth time? :/), spring is beginning to take shape in our minds!

We're planning a new chicken coop! We're going to convert an old 12x12 horse stall into a super-coop that can hold sixty birds! Why so many birds? We are currently going through an egg DROUGHT that has brought us down to 2-3 eggs a week. :he

We have ordered the chicks, they're arriving in late April. Mostly barred rocks, Rhode Island Red, and Leghorn, but also Buff Orps, Sussex, Delaware and Dominique! :weee

Also, getting the garden planned out for next year is a blast! We're both downsizing and upsizing. Trying fewer new things and sticking to the basics, but more of it. Carrots, peas, potatoes, onions and squash galore!

And I truly believe I have the greatest herding dog ever to walk the earth. Our annoying goat, Millie, tried to escape from herding practice into the cow pasture (which has the entire brood herd, bulls and new mothers included). Now, Puppy has always thought of cows as PLAYTIME, but today, I told him to go after the goat, and he went right into that herd and, ignoring all the stampeding cattle, quickly and efficiently brought me that goat.

Let's see those trial-champion border collies do THAT! :smack

The measure of an animal is, IMO, not HOW it does in a show ring, but how it does in real life.

I'm sorry, I don't know what safe means. let me check a dictionary...

Lucky for me, whatever stupid stuff I do today, I have an ever-present, four-foot deep crash pad around me!

:th :th :th

Yesterday, I realized my cat was having difficulty breathing (wheezing and snorting mucus everywhere!), so we took him to the emergency room amid the freezing rain. He's got a URI. Now that he's out of the cold it's improved quite a bit, and we've got some medicine for him now. Just gotta hope the other cats haven't caught it. :th

Making a chicken soup today! Though, it's probably not what you're thinking. It's soup... for the chickens.

:p

Though, they might not like it. Here's the current list of ingredients:

Oats
Carrot peelings
Raisins
Brussels sprouts
Applesauce
Tomato Sauce
Spinach Quiche

I pretty much just took everything that we weren't going to eat and put it in a pot. Hope they like it!

I LIIIIVE!!! :D :D :D

OK, giving this another shot, won't say I'm back yet, but here I am.

Over the past few months... Well, not much happened. But it's spring now, and things are heating up. Garlic is up, dog is in training, goat is going to the butcher, meat chicks are being stinky... Typical springtime activities! And, I don't to say anything that can give away my age... So I may or may not be driving now. ;)

Oh, I made cheese for the first time today! Ricotta. It was delicious!
