You can't beat the micro climate of the Parish and the length of the growing season. The Summer garden up here is done for and there's just a few things going for the Fall garden.
Yep. Being surrounded by all that nice warm gulf and lake water really makes a difference in the climate. Go just a little north to Baton Rouge where there is less influence from the lake and the gulf and it's like a different world. That is why I say Baton Rough is too far north for me. It's a few degrees colder up there in the winter and I can't stand the cold.

Just a quick update. Not a whole lot going on, but we do have a total of about 10 eggplants coming in not. Not bad for a couple of bushes I wanted to yank out of the ground about 2 months ago. And greenbeans!!!! Our bush beans are started to produce! I noticed this morning that several plants have little beans popping out.

Fall is finally here. I love fall. I woke up this morning to the most beautiful fall day. Going out now to water the garden and then losts of house work to do. This kind of weather really makes me WANT to clean the house and get things done, so I'm going to get started. Happy Fall Ya'll!!

The corn is coming in, beans are doing well, and there are about 15 eggplants on the bush. I'm starting to see some flowers on the pea vines. Tomato, pepper, squash, and cukes are all still tiny. Don't know if they will do anything at all. I'm excited about the corn though. I've never grown corn before and I have 4 ears coming in on my 6 remaining plants. :celebrate

I am not sure about the corn. It was ready, but really, really, really, tiny. I am happy with the eggplant and beans thought, so that's what's for dinner!
