We had pet mice My brother brought home a pet mouse from school. Couldn't tell you what we named it, but lo and behold, not long after she came home, she had 12 babies!!!!!!!!!!
Mom didn't have the heart to make us give away the babies, as we weren't allowed to have pets other than fish where we lived or rodents, so we kept all 12.
Then they had babies, their babies had babies, etc.
I think we ended up with 100+ pet mice....half of which escaped into the house...but they were very tame! We'd pet them and hold them and play with them on the floor and give them treats...very tame little buggers!
I laughed so hard my son came running to see what was up!
My brother had a pet anole (small lizard) that got loose in the house never to be found. We joked when my parents sold the house that Carlos was still alive and 20 feet long, living somewhere in the basement..... (Carlos would be the anole, not my brother....)
Two of the four traps, the ones in the garage, are gone. vanished. No spilled blue pellets, nothing. Just El Gone-O. Nothing has been disturbed in the house, and there is no scat anywhere.
I slept with my door closed and a towel stuffed under it, though.
This is bizarre. I am going to get a note pad and a rumpled trenchcoat and look for clues.
"Excuse me, kitty? I hate to bother you, but I just have a few questions....."
Traps can disappear when they get only part of the rodent 9either glue or snap type trap) and the poor thing drags 'em off elsewhere as it tries to escape... or if it trips the trap and then pulls the now-harmless trap off to a more private place to fully appreciate the nice peanutbutter you're serving
So, if it's glue traps, prolly the former; if it's a snap trap, could be either thing.
Son-in-law just stopped by on the scooter (wearing pastoral garb and a flame helmet) and checked the traps. He found the big one behind some stacked up banquet tables. It was covered in fur. Self exlpanatory there.
The pile of pellets was half gone. The snap trap was NOT sprung, as I thought, so he moved it to a corner and loaded it with balls of peanut butter and spackle. I will add more death orbs to the garage later tonight.
He thinks there are multiple critters, given the amount of bait that was consumed. that makes perfect sense.
The insulation is being blown into the attic tomorrow. That should stimulate a whole lot of activity, don't you think?
That does it! I'm sending you some One-Bite! PM me your address, sister....... Multiple rats big enough to drag off traps? This calls for a serious cat or serious poison, baby!
