A fellow freecycler trims her rosemary every few months and gives me the branches. I dehydrate them in the sun, strip the rosemary and then use the branches in my rocket stove. Doesn't flavor the food much, but it smells SO good cooking !!!!
FarmerDenise said:BB, for the bbq bundles, I just use the stipped stems of the herb that I dried. After I strip the leaves from the stems, I bundle them in bunches of about 1" diameter with the string that comes off the chicken feed bags. I read somewhere that you could do this with lavender sticks. You soak the bundle in water and then put it on your bbq to flavor the meat. I figure if it works with lavender, why not with other herbs. We haven't tried it yet though. SO hasn't been doing much bbq'ing lately.
In the end, if it doesn't work, I can always use these bundles to help start the fire in the fireplace.
