Sounds like you've been taking great care of everybody else. ( your SO, his farm, the farm animals, the foster animals) Make sure you treat yourself good too.
I'm glad you can go to your daughter when you need to. Good luck with your appt. today. It's always good to know what your options are. If you need someone to talk to- pm me.
The SO needed to tell his buddy to call first. Too many guys don't have a clue how to draw the line about their buddies being rude.
Well, when I was visiting them, they both kept asking me if I wanted this or that. Every time I looked at something when we were at walmart or ace hardware, they would offer to buy it for me.
I kept telling them that we had Walmart in California too and It would be difficult to carry it back in my carry on luggage.
so when I saw the post and had a look at it, I figured I might as well ask them. I am so looking forward to canning stuff that so many of you already can.
One of the reasons I like canning, is that once it is processed, the food needs no more power to be stored. a deep freeze is faster and preserves food better. but you always have to rely on power. So even though I would also like one of those, it also costs to keep it running. Considering that I will let the power be turned off, if I get too broke, a deep freeze is just not such a sensible option for me.
I am glad I really experimented with dehydrating a lot more stuff this summer. I brought some dehydrated sweet peppers to my folks and showed them how to use them. My mother was pleased, because she makes paella and having sweet red peppers makes the dish. this way she will be able to make it, without having to buy those overpriced peppers at the store this winter.
I had also brought my homemade trail mix with all home dehydrated fruit. My mother kept snacking on it I was glad to have it for the plain trip, it provided a nice amount of sweetness from the fruit and protein from the nuts. I had added some walnuts I had picked at a friends property and then I bought some at a local store that sells bulk. So it wasn't that expensive to make.
