I've been out with backpain and now with a cold. :(
Just been doing the bare minimum, then just lying around and playing computer games.
The house looks nice though with the decorations up. And the branches I arranged do look like a little tree.
The weather was nice and sunny today and I managed to hang up 2 loads of laundry and clean out the nest boxes. Then the energy left me and I've been watching tv on the couch.

I wish everyone a happy solstice and a merry christmas.

I can hardly wait to feel up to snuff again and getting some stuff done.

Made myself go out and do some shopping for christmas eve dinner. I did really good. Stayed under budget and got more than was on the list :)
Took a long nap and went out to feed the rabbit and bring the laundry in.
Then took a moment to just enjoy the farm. The sun was behind the trees. It was getting cold. Roosters were crowing all around us. I looked for our little guy and he was just standing watching over the ladies as they were browsing through the greens in the field. He wasn't making any noise at all. He just stretched and shook himself all over and mosied closer to the ladies and then found himself some nibbles. A few of the hens climbed the pile of dried sunflower stalks and did their evening grooming. SO had fed them their grains earlier.
I checked the rabbit once more and he came over for a scratch behind the ears and went back to nibbling his peach twigs. It is so amusing to watch the stick disappear under his little fuzzy nose.

We got 8 eggs today. I'm going to have to do something with all those eggs as soon as I feel better.
We got wood by the backdoor, food for tomorrow's meal, the critters almost all taken care of for the night. It is a good feeling. I'll have some hot tea and relax.

Dont tell anyone but once my mother and I did the same thing with a rooster. (I was about 11 years old at the time.)

In TX it is okra, that stuff grows like 2 inches per day no lie!!

(I'm ashamed to go into detail about "Operation Rooster Drop". Lets just leave it at, not the front door and not during the day. It happened over 25 years ago too, so y'all don't be hatin on me!)

We used to leave large zucchini at peoples doors :p

We are having a peacefull day. Wrapping the last gifts, preparing dinner and straightening up the house for tonight's dinner.
Called the folks this morning to wish them a merry christmas.

It is nice and sunny out, got a little fire burning in the stove and christmas music playing.
I am about to start preparing the carrots I dug up a few days ago. I already chopped the shallots for the gravy and I'll open a jar of applesauce for desert. We'll also be having a salad with tomatoes from the garden. I am so glad I picked them before we got our freeze. I just love being able to eat all this wonderfull food that we grew and preserved ourselves.

Wishing everyone a peacefull yule.

I felt miserable on winter solstice due to having a cold. I couldn't even light a candle.

But I am able to make up for it today. I feel much better and the day is going well. Everyone in the house is calm and kind, my DD and her hubby will be coming for dinner, what more could I ask for?

I also was able to go to a friend's house on saturday for a christmas carol party, which as always was a blast.
