FJ, if it makes you feel any better, I can't leave the door to my tack shed opened. If I do, I'll have at least 1 chicken in there. I keep telling them that they don't belong in there, but they STILL go in. :/

The new girls graduated from the garage to the big outdoors this weekend.

Thanks! They're still a little skittish, but they better grow up quick. I caught two of my hens pecking at my cabbage I had just planted. The kids are talking responsibility for most of their care, so we'll see.

No pictures of the creepy meats in the next pen. I have no problem offing them when the time comes....

I picked up 10 couple day old RIR chicks today. Hoping they are all girls!!! I picked the ones with the best tails. The girls tend to start feathering there before the boys do in my experience. Lots of little bald fluff butts, and just a few with tail feathers barely starting. I'll let ya know how it turns out in about 3 weeks when we can REALLY tell for sure.

Not much going on up this way. The garden is still muddy, but I'm hoping to work in it tomorrow night. Seeing signs of a little life in the red beets, but everything is so behind.

The meaties are marching right along. 3 weeks or so left, waiting for a call-back from the processor to confirm the date.

Youth baseball in full swing, we've had more rain-outs than games played.

Nothing new to report, our life is boring. :p

WBF, my RIR chickens have worked out to be the best ones I bought originally, they are still laying well even though they are two years old and they are by far my friendliest chickens. They are just production reds but they are not praised enough IMHO.
