Taking a lunch break. The girls are coming tomorrow so we can exchange Christmas gifts. Had to run out to get apples for apple pies (by request). 25, but sunny, put a carload of cardboard together to take to the recycling drop-off. Filled the bird feeders, trying to get the house straightened up so I just need to sweep and dust in the morning.

Going to see if the new parts for the electric canner fixed the problem next week. We have 10 pints of canned chicken left, the wife is getting antsy. Lol. I have everything to can some baked beans.

Still working on the chaos. Got my three apple pies baked yesterday, kitchen counters scrubbed, and started attacking the kitchen mess. Still need to vacuum and dust. Threw out more outdated binge purchases from November that were in the refrigerator. Going forward, shopping ALWAYS must be done with a list with an inventory check part of the process. We now have 2 large bags of cranberries, 3 huge bags of walnuts, and I don't know how many boxes of snack crackers (all binge bought on sale).

Did hang a small task calendar white board in the kitchen, may help with sorting things out mentally. Pushed the wife to get up and do a little to help. I am going to have to be lovingly bossy, I guess.

My fear of buying this place is realized. Too much to keep up with by myself, while holding down a full-time job. This is part of the reason I gave up the volunteer gig. I have lowered my standards of "clean" a lot. 😆

As one who has consistently overloaded herself throughout her life, let some stuff go, don’t add to the burden you already have. Get the outside projects done to where you can maintain what you have. You are working on the inside, slowly reducing the “stuff”. You will get the inside of the house to where all the extra stuff is gone, you can maintain the inside.

I have a tendency to scatter myself all over the place, so I make lists of what I need to do. But I still overload myself and always will.

The 2018 washer that we bought from the house sellers here, broke. The struts are going out. So to fix it is $676 or to buy the exact same Maytag is $828.

What did I do? I'm going to fix the struts myself with hubs help. For $115.

Can the vacuum be repaired? What is wrong with it?
