i'll trade anyone a totally goosey younger sis who has to learn every stinkin' hard lesson on earth herself.... and then stands there crying victim and wants everyone to run to her aid.

sheesh....

good thoughts colowyo0809 on the vet stuff.

FF i know this is a hard situation. it makes it worse when the kids have to "parent" the parents...

Oh, I know how you feel, it's terrible. Yikes.

You are a better person than I. When my dad gets to that state I'm walking away. (Well, I've walked away already, but I'm not walking back, put it that way).

My mom has said that when he gets bad, she'll just put him in a nursing home and visit sparingly. But I know that she has spent too much of her life devoted and bending over backwards that in some sick masochistic way I worry she has become used to it and that there is no hope for her.

I don't know what to say, just hang in there. :hugs

wow thats a tall order for anyone. i think its hardest for the family b/c they want to help the parents.

but....

sometimes letting the pros handle it is best. there are special skills for folks with dementia. those people are angles. your sis is probably crushed with guilt with having to make the decision. good for you for helping out.

say - is there any of the casserole left? sounds delish!

:)

Oh honey, I'm just catching up after a busy weekend....not as busy as yours.... :hugs

We were lucky with Nanny to find a wonderful place for her to be. They have had to put an alarm on her cause she tries to get up and go outside by herself. She is on a farm and they have like 30 acres with lots of woods.

I worked in an adult day care right after college for a while and we had a lady that had dementia and eventually got struck by a car and killed when her son stopped in a parking lot to talk to a friend. She got out of the car and wandered onto the highway and into traffic. It's so hard to deal with them when they think they know what they are doing.

I hope you guys are able to find a good solution and your dad heals up well. :hugs
