My in laws only live a mile or so from my house. We went over yesterday afternoon. She set's it all up really fancy a day or so ahead of time. FIL was in charge of cooking the turkeys this year. He deep fried one and smoked the other. They turned out very nice. My husbands Uncle and two of his adult daughters were there. Made for good conversation and laughter.

My kids had a good time playing with some of their cousins and running all over Grandmas house. I think they even managed to squeeze in tome target practice with the BB guns.

Then we all cleaned up and headed home. I brought home 3 turkey carcases. Roasted them last night in the oven and now they are on the stove simmering for stock.

The rest of DH family is heading for the desert today. I put my foot down and used money as an excuse I didn't want to go. My kids are disappointed but they will get over it.

All is well that ends well.

Today I have just a couple things I plan to do. The rest will just happen.

I know it's cold there. Yesterday i was talking with my cousin who lives in Seymour. They were telling me about how that storm blew up the 44 right past them. They did get some rain though. Then about 20 min later she calls me back "It's snowing". I feel very guilty complaining about our temps. :hide

Thanks!! The turkeys got a presidential pardon this year. I really want to try and have poults in the spring. I ended up with One Eye as my only tom and two Jenny's. I figure they should be right about the age when spring comes. My goal this weekend is to close in that tractor I made an get them moved up into the orchard. Their run is icky!!

We'll see.

Still at least I have the next three days off to play homestead and I will take THAT in any weather!
:weee :woot No, ice isn't any fun but days off are! We had our first snow today so it was out in boots to scrape the vehicles before work. Have fun doing the window trim. It'll look great when it's done!

We had serious window trim issues after we built our house.. Dh left all the mouldings windows, doors and floor trim for himself to do. Lets just say our house is almost 10 years old and we are still not finished.

I think if I ever build again I am going to trim with flat 1 x 6's easy to sand, stain paint or whatever. Enough of the lumpy stuff. It's a pain.

It sounds like a great indoor project for today.
