FF, I have blackberry jelly making envy of you right now. We probably won't have enough this year to make jelly.

I know what you mean about WalMart. Ours is the 3rd largest in TN. One stop shopping, just about the only grocery store here, but, ugh!, the hassle sometimes.

DH refuses to go there, so we went to Ingles for groceries today.

I am not sure which would sell best, the pair or a couple pullet turkeys, because I've not yet taken turkey poults to the auction.

I know we took an adult bourbon red and a white to the auction a couple years ago and only got $5 each for them. We were disappointed. Young ones sell better.

I take mine in a cardboard box with ventilation...either small wire stapled across the top of the box or air holes cut in the side. This way, the buyer can carry them home and I am not out a cage.

Yes, they auction them off in the box.

Chicks go anywhere from $1-$4.50 each at our local auction, depending on what you take in.

Hens bring in anything from $5-$10 to $20 depending on what you bring in. I know when people bring in their mama hens with newly hatched chicks, if you don't have at least $50 in your pocket, you're not getting that Mama hen!! We saw two broodies with chicks auctioned off last year. One went for $45 and the other went for $20.

Roosters, well, sometimes you get 50 cents to $1 depending on the roo. I saw a Welsummer roo bring $9, and he wasn't in with any hens!

I have two established 50 foot rows of blackberries (thornless thank goodness!) and two 50 foot rows of newly moved black raspberries.

These are last years leftover frozen berries I am jelly making with.

Several years ago the blackberries were entirely out of control so I did quite a bit of re-vamping to them, including rebuilding a "berry containment" system. I have basically a box of posts and wire with the berries in the middle now. Before they were entangled in woven wire fencing. In years past I have had so many blackberries they were a cash crop for me sold at the local farmers market!

How are you containing yours?
Unfortunately, we've not had much of a containment problem. We just "train" ours on fencing.
