I am so sorry your blossoms were froze solid!! but I must say, the lilacs, even snow covered, look gorgeous!

I think you would be proud of me! I used a Ryobi saw yesterday and helped DH cut the support boards for our new front deck.. :p

Ok so I only cut one, then I measured and marked the rest of the boards for the same cut while he finished cutting them...but I did use the saw once!

And I broke in my new hammer by pounding some nails!

Wish I had taken some carpentry classes....

Don't forget to post that on the new ss skills thread!!! It is scary but exciting to use the saw, isn't it? I was terrified my first time, but the friend who was helping me finish my barn made me frame the windows. Then by fall I had to make windows by myself (plexiglass framed roughly with wood that I remove in the spring.)

Now I make all kinds of things and love it! You go, girl!!!

Thats funny, all through shop class I loved using all the saws and even the acetylin torch and never realy feared them but I was always a little frightened by the corded drills. I have owned battery operated drills and used them constantly and always enjoyed them, but I got one of the corded drills and misunderstood the word "industrial". I was putting a bit in it for the first time and grabbed the chuck and pulled the trigger all the way back to tighten it. I thought I broke my wrist and wouldnt touch it for a week. I now use it but am still quite frightened.

I actually have my own cordless drill. DH has a Skill drill that he bought at 18 years old after he got his first job.

My drill is a craftsman drill. Dh and I found it lying in the middle of a road! (NO JOKE) I think that was about 2 or 3 years ago. It didn't have a battery with it, so we went to Sears with the drill and they fixed us up with a battery...so my free drill cost us the cost of a new battery. I don't remember how much that was.

Then last year, we found a hand held saw at a yard sale for a couple bucks that didn't have a battery. HAHA my drill battery is interchangeable with it!

Then at another yard sale, FIL found a table saw. He bought it, told DH if he changed the oil in his Jeep for him, DH could have the table saw. Dh changed the oil within the hour!

I used our chain saw last year. I don't remember what we were doing, I just remember I asked DH if I could try it. Of course, he's always up for me learning to do new things, so he handed it over.

I justify myself by saying at least I have a good tool and Grandpa always said "Don't Skimp when it comes to tools."
Dh says this, too. He says buy American made tools if you can find them, so he's always watching out for sales and picks through the used tools. He found Snap On wrenches at a yard sale for $1 each last year, all say American made...these wrenches would have cost him over $150 to buy them new...he spent $13 and brought them home, cleaned them up, and now they look new! He says he can never have too many wrenches :gig

We picked up a palm sander at a yard sale, nothing wrong with it, just the people were down sizing the tools they didn't use. This thing was still in the box!!!

Then again he was somewhat of a tool-aholic like I am as well!:D
Yes, that's my husband. For any gift-giving occassion he always asks for tools.

The first new power tools I ever purchased for DH were a jig saw and a different palm sander than what we have now. His BIL five finger discounted it....then tried to sell it back to us! :th
