Thanks Farm!

Monday I did get my spinach and lettuce planted! It was pretty much the last day to do it according to the Winter Harvest Handbook that I finally dug out. Thanks for the kick in the hiney to get it done Skr8pn!!! So now we shall just see. As I said in the greenhouse thread, worst case scenario is I learn something and some seed is wasted. Best case scenario is fresh greens in winter! I can live with that!

Kimchi report from Monday: too much ginger. This was my first time making it. I followed the recipe from NT but added a bit of apple. Next time I'm going to halve the ginger and double the pepper. Not much kick to it at all.

Yesterday came home from work to find MyT Man had filled the dehydrator with apple slices!!! What a guy :love

Whoo... kimchi report from today. I think 2 days in the fridge did it or the fact that I'm now eating the kimchi from the bottom of the jar with my lunch. Spicy and ginger is not dominant. Wow! Good stuff. Definately got a zing to it. Maybe I won't tweak that recipe :weee

Well, the smoked goose was a flop. Jim must have taken a nap or something when he maybe should have checked it... it was way overdone. Almost to the jerky stage... Oh well, the rest of it was good! Ate over there and then came home and took a nap.

Then we finally got our venison sausage done. Last year we used a hand grinder. This year, we used the kitechenaid attachment. So much easier! Made cheddar brats and plain sausage brats.

Had cheddar brats for breakfast this morning. :drool

Two funny CL ads this morning in our farm and garden section!

high output propane torch - $15 (Lex)

Flamethrower style of torch used for thawing pipes or equipment, frozen gates, iced up barn doors or horse trailer, cooking the quick hot dog or burglar.
NOT good for thawing wooden steps.

Only used once, paid $25 for it.

(I guess he got the burglar :D)

guinea hogs (Kentucky)
Want to buy a pair of guines hogs or bred female. Send an email of what you have to offer.

I'm not sure if their trying to buy guinea pigs or a genuine hog??? :th

The burglar must not have been so quick after all.

Your brats sound delish. I can almost smell them. Hey, maybe that torch would work for sausage too...
