Sorry FJ, lol.

But, it truly does seem to be a winter phenomenon - at least for some of us gals....

Whew, just got about everything buttoned up outside finally. Started yesterday and finished up just now. Only have the dogs left to take care of. I boiled 'em up a whole batch of eggs to go with their dinner tonight - hope they are duly grateful! The big dog, Maddie, will stay out with her herd tonight. Pyrs are plenty hairy and she's got a barn to hunker down in so she'll be fine. She's been acting like a total ditz all day - running around and acting like a pup. I think her and the geese are the only ones who are loving it. Looked out the upstairs window just a few minutes ago...goats in the barn, chickens in their shelters, horses in front of the barn, the dog was tossing a bone in the air for herself - AND - the geese were swimming around in the pond - totally in their element and living it up. Makes me cold just thinking about it. Course, we're not even that cold yet. We topped out in the 50's today, but WINDY, and it's just now dropped into the 40's headed for our forecasted 27. Not so bad...but tomorrow night they're predicting 21. Probably a heat wave for some of you guys, lol. And get this - we'll be 70 by the end of the week - CRAZY!

Sold another goat today - that makes 10 that I've moved in the last few months. That oughta help the feed bill. Really wish I could move some chickens though.. I'm topped out with chickens right now. Have a bunch of baby quail too. But, they'll move real quick, lol.... into my tummy!

Gotta go find some chow...haven't eaten since breakfast and I've worked up an appetite.:drool

Thanks for the sympathy FJ! You don't havta hide - I give everybody at least ONE freebie before I start throwing things, lol!

Okay - had a little pity party last night... more of one this morning. Kept waking up last night to make sure the water wasn't freezing so I didn't get my full 8 hours of "beauty" sleep - hah! Didn't worry too much about the outside stuff cuz I turned off the water that goes out back and kinda, sorta drained the hoses...except when I stepped on a couple of 'em this morning (in the cold, dark, early morning, below freezing obligatory a.m. feeding session) they kinda crunched...oops. Maybe didn't drain 'em as well as I shoulda? Quail waterers were all froze up this morning too. We're s'posed to get in the upper 40's today so maybe they'll thaw out on their own - if not, there's gonna be some thirsty quail by the time I get out there after work today. Maybe DH will feel sorry for 'em and go give 'em some liquid since he's working from home today.... must be nice not to havta get out in this mess.... Anyway - that was my long-winded, round-a-bout way of saying I'm sleeeeepy this morning...need more coffee!

I'm on a pantry and freezer cleaning mission. So...in the spirit thereof...I made the BESTEST pumpkin soup last night. I don't even remember why I had a big ol' chunk of frozen pumpkin puree in the freezer, but I was determined to turn it into something edible last night. I sauteed some onions and garlic in olive oil/butter mixture...added some cumin, paprika, Tony Chachere's cajun seasoning, and a couple cubes of chicken boullion in there with it and let 'er rip for about 1/2 hour.... Was gonna put the last little bit of commercial 1/2 and 1/2 into it. (bought for MIL when she was visiting- she's skeered of goat milk) but I guess it evaporated so I used about 1/2 cup of sour cream instead - DELICIOSO to the max! Went well with a southwest kinda salad.

Already did 500 steps on the elliptical that now resides in my office - woo hoo - definitely will try to get in at least a mile before lunch...and maybe more this afternoon. I'm kinda working up to it s..l..o..w...l..y. No use burning yourself out on the new exercise routine - right?

Okay needa get a couple things done so I can say I earned my pay today. Ya'll have a good one!

hahahaha. On the radio they were talking about the body's physiological response to the cold and how it does increase your urge to go.
