Aww I hope they can help him. That's awful. It's from diabetes right? I didn't know that could happen.

Hehe my goats might be pathetic. I told my husband today these Nigerians are really not my favorite goats. They're very... They're Prima Donna's. My mini alpines don't seem afraid of the pigs!

I like your barn a lot. How is it set up inside? Are there pics hiding somewhere? We want to build a barn next summer if we can (we have little outbuildings everywhere now).

Oh and BTW the words "injection" and "eyeball" being in the same sentence makes my stomach turn. You brave souls!

DH wants to get laser surgery but I can't imagine it. My mom just got surgery for cataracts and she doesn't even wear glasses now. I only wear them for close up reading/work. My husband has to wear them all the time though as does one of my sons. They have a major astigmatism. DH can only have glasses correcting to about 20/30 or less. I guess if my eyes were that bad I might want the needles/surgery...

2X that thought !!

And, I am NO fan of the shot in the foot, either o_O Sensitive, hurtful area. If it helps then it may in future seem worth the pain but.........wow.......

I sure pray that both of you can find relief & improvement. My late stepdad had diabetes and it is not a good thing. He had eye bleeds, laser, etc. Legally blind, lost a leg, etc. Such a serious thing when you consider that you "look" like nothing wrong -- then you read about all the major problems that happen because of it. Internally, too much bad happens.

I had a shot in my ankle once and I never plan on doing that again. If it had helped I might have considered it but it didn't. Finally surgery and about 3 months sitting on my duff helped. I don't want to do that again either, lol.

Diabetes is the worst disease ever! We are sitting at the docs office now waiting and waiting. Seems like every one else had the same idea today.

There has been talk of a vitrectomy
Which Is the removal of the fluid within the eyeball and replacing it with something like saline or another fluid that is clear. He also has cataracts in both eyes-yay! Not...

Those things are little down the road-but today will be the injection. He says they aren't terribly painful - so that's a plus.

P.s. How does anyone post from their phones? This has taken me at least an hour to type, lol. And that's only a small exaggeration!

Yea, I actually watched it today. I'm always in the room, but usually just don't look. I shouldn't have looked - you can't UN-SEE something like that.

@NH Homesteader - sorry I didn't answer your question about how the barn was set up. Really nothing special inside, but everything I build I make it 'changeable' if possible. Right now there's a small pen in the back left corner that can be for kidding or a sick goat or just whatever I might need it for. There's a bench in the back right hand corner that they fight over. If it ever gets really cold and I need to keep the horses from stealing all the goats hay I block off the front left hand corner for the horses and block the access to the inside all the way across the rest of the space with a bar that keeps the horses out and lets the goats in.

The whole right hand side of the barn - the closed in part has had multiple jobs. It has a walk through door that you can barely see in the pic, and on the other side of the barn there's a garage type roll up door. It's been a feed room, a horse stall, hay storage, and right now the pigs are on the right side and hay is on the left side of that area.

The dimensions of the barn are 30 ft x 18 ft. The enclosed feed room area is 10 ft x 18 feet. I can stack almost 60 sq bales in less than half of that enclosed feed room area.

Plus - the whole thing is a glorified carport and was built in a day. I've been pretty pleased with it so far. It's tied down with those big spiral-y type of tie downs - but if there's ever a hurricane coming this way I would definitely be adding some more! Plus, we had it built with the "heavy duty" metal for the frame.

I have a smaller, older, grungier wooden barn closer to the house that I use for kidding. It's only 12 x 16 with a 10 x 16 feed/milk room attached. The milk/feed room has a concrete floor. I really like that.

I love it. I don't need anything that big (yet? Lol!) but I really like it.

Changeable is good. I'd like to do a carport type setup with cattle panels. I don't really need permanent kidding pens for 3 does, so I would like to be able to just set them up when we need them. That sort of thing.
