Glad your goatie seems to be doing better! Cowboy does sound like a good neuter candidate. Sheesh dog!

Hope you have a good Labor Day, you go back to work tomorrow right?

I do go back to work tomorrow. Mixed feelings about that. I miss my peeps so it's always good for us to get together and share war stories. But...at the same time I worry about going off and leaving the oldsters. I am confident in the lady that will care for them and I'm sure I'll relax after a couple of days. Still have so much to do for them. I've got to get them some more clothes. I picked dad up some slip on shoes the other day to wear until we can get his toenails clipped. I swear I've never seen toenails so long in my life - except for mom's....they're long too. That was going to be my chore today until CP - who is going to care for them - said that she LOVES to clip toenails. I am happy to turn that over to her and hope I come home to clipped nails on them tomorrow. If not, I might pack them up and take them in for a pedicure. I'll have to tip well for that, lol!

We're having meatloaf tonight so I think I'll go put it together now and it'll be ready to pop in the oven later. DH and I find ourselves eating really late every evening because I usually cook after I've done all the outside chores. Parents need to eat earlier than 9pm because they like to go to bed early. So, need to have a change in our routine. It'll be good for us too - not so great to eat that late and then drop into bed.

Got the bucks moved - it was easy enough. Open the gate to their old pen and then shut it behind them. They were happy to go back after being off for over a week. There'll be lots of fresh goodies for them to munch on.

Break over - back to it!

That is wonderful news about your goat! Re Cowboy, if he's going to be this way every time those two come into heat… I think I'd have him neutered. If you are absolutely sure you do not want him to father any pups in future, get him done rather. It sounds like it would save you a lot of hassle.

How is DH doing with his eyes etc?

Hugs to you and your parents :hugs

I think the writing is on the wall for ol' Cowboy! Last fall Maddie and Gracie were in heat at the same time. It was not nearly as bad as this. I put Maddie in the livestock trailer and Gracie in the house. Cowboy would lay under the trailer in hopes that Maddie would fall through the floor I guess, lol. But the whole thing was over in the same amount of time. This cycle Maddie came in first and as she was going out - Gracie came in. That has made this torture 6 weeks long instead of 3 weeks. And, in fact, it's not terrible for 3 weeks because the female isn't interested for the first week or so.

Dh's eye is the same :( He has a follow up in a couple weeks. Doc told us last time that if he's not cleared up that he'll refer us to a cornea expert. Yay - another doc. And, just for an added bonus the computer module that controls all the safety features in his car went out. So, his blind spot indicator, the automatic braking so you don't hit someone, the cruise control that adjusts to the car in front of you - ALL inactive at this time. Part has to be ordered....hope it doesn't have to come from the country of origin. UGH!

Today it's back to business as usual. In fact, DH worked Friday too. Brain is fried so I forget these things, lol.

Felt weird going off to work while leaving the parents at home...it's like leaving your child for the first time. I have a lot of confidence in their caretaker so I'm not toooo worried.

I sympathize with you and yours. Yep, all your schedules will change a little -- you're right, it will be good for you & DH with the eating earlier. Look at it this way, then oldsters can go to bed & you can have a little down time. My mom used to tell people "no one eats at her house until the animals do".
Mostly, that was correct....evenings, anyway. AM not so much.

Kids started school here today.

The caregiver is awesome. She's cleaning a little along with their care. She's easily bored, lol. I am crazy busy getting caught up at work, but it should ease up a little it by the end of the week. DH's job has been taking him to the north side of Houston, and there are still major traffic problems, high water, and road closures that persist. Took him 4 hours to make a 90 minute drive yesterday - argh!

I'm waiting for my son to drop by and do some repair work for me. Bless his soul! Monday when we were off I was trying to get a lot of laundry done when I told DH I smelled something. I wondered if the belt on the dryer was slipping or something because it smelled like rubber burning. DH said he didn't smell anything. So, I dried another load...again, I thought I smelled something. DH said nope - no smell. Finally, I got a little ticked off and asked him to at least go look...GRRRRR. He pulls the dryer out and says there's a hole in the exhaust hose. I popped back at him and said that's not what stinks. By this time he's totally exasperated with me and has given me "that" look several times. But, I persisted in my (not so) sweet way, lol.

This is what he finally found! Geeze louise, if this house woulda burned down THEN where would we all go? GRRRRRR!
