Mmmmmmmmmm, it smells really good in my house right now. It's stew for dinner... and TAH-DAH it's GOAT STEW! This is my first attempt at cooking goat and my first time to eat goat as a meal. I've already tasted it and it's oh so yummy!! I really think I'm gonna enjoy goat.

We were planning on butchering another one tomorrow morning, but I told DH this morning that we needed to eat some goat meat before we butchered any more.... and it looks like it's a GO! I've got another one penned up. His demise will depend on the weather tomorrow.....

He may get a break because DH wants to go see a flick. He said he wants to do something "fun". I told him that I have fun every time I walk out the back door and go to the garden or the animal pens. I love my life and don't need much outside stimulation - but what the heck - I'll go see a movie with him if it makes him happy.

I think I'll go make some cornbread. Sounds good with stew, huh?

It's official - we like goat meat! We had butchering on the 'to-do' list this morning, but I'm not sure if we'll acomplish it or not. Itis muddy out there this morning. It rained yesterday evening and most of the night. Yep - rained - a LOT! And we've got rain chances for the entire week. We got almost 3 inches here. I'm not gonna complain because we're offically still in a drought. Some places, about 30 miles west of us got 8 inches! GEEZE!

What I AM going to complain about is that we've got a strong cold front headed this way -again. Our temps will be down into the 40's by next weekend. :ep :th Of ourse, that's when my girls are supposed to start delivering their kids.

DH and I were sitting on the back porch yesterday evening and talking about this crazy weather. Generally by this time our temps are eaily in the 90+ degree range. Except for the garden being totally confused - there is a benefit from this weather. My electric bill is significanly less than it was this time last year. BONUS!

One of my goat gals is so huge and miserable that I'm kinda afraid she might deliver early. Years ago, I had a doe who delivered triplets every time - and every time she delivered 5 - 7 days shy of 145 days. Guess I need to put on my boots and head out back and check on things.

Well, there might be exactly one bite left, lol! It was goood stuff.

Spent a little time this morning raking out the barn in prep for the upcoming births. DH even helped! He's really been trying lately.

We took his car to my son's house so he could install some fog lights and, just our luck, we had the wrong lights.... sigh....

Then to Home Depot just to look around. We were killing time before heading over to some fellow goat breeders house to see my new buckling! A few months back they were looking for a new doe kid and so I traded them the doe for a future buck from them. Well.... my buck was born last week so I went to meet him today. He's a pretty litle thing too. That means I need to get busy and sell some goats. I would like to get my numbers down... and that's hard to do when I've got 5 or 6 pregnant does!

Left there and were on our way home when the Mexican Food Urge came over us. So, off we go to a little restaurant in town where everybody knows my name. I ordered shrimp tacos, (yum, yum) and DH had some kind of enchilada plate. He cleaned all of his plate and then asked for the pico relish frm my plate which I gladly passed over to him.

We got home and needed to carry feed out to the barn. I went out and started feeding while he brought the cart full of feed to the barn. I noticed that he was moving kind of slow and the first thing he said to me was "do I look okay to you".... OH BOY.... DH has several health issues so I immediately got concerned. He told me his chest was feeling tight and he was short of breath. DH is a registered nurse, so when he speaks of health issues - I listen. Hs face was red and his breathing was a little labored so I made him drop everything and come inside.

Once we got in the house I could see that his face was quite red and by that time he said he was tingling all over. OMG... I had shrimp tacos and he ate off my plate. AND - he has a shellfish allerty. Out with the Benadryl. He popped two benadryl and his symptoms are, at least, not getting any worse. It's almost funny that he's the nurse, and his first thoughts were that he was having a cardiac event. But, as soon as I mentioned food allergy he immediately thought the symptoms fit.

So, we're in for the night. He's in the recliner and I'm giving him the eagle-eye every few minutes. Poor baby, he has so many challenges.

He's pretty groggy right now, but his color is better and the tightness in his chest has eased. Looks like we caught it in time. He does have an epi-pen, but do you think he carries it with him? Noooo.....

He was good to go this morning. I did convince him to take Benadryl with him just in case.

He's so funny...this shellfish allergy started about a year ago. Since then he's been trying to convince himself that he really doesn't have an allergy - that maybe he just ate too much seafood. Come on now - he's a nurse and he knows better. He just didn't WANT to be allergic to shellfish because he loves it so much! For the last year he's been saying he's gonna try eating some and see if he has a reaction. Well - now he knows! And this was just a little juice that leaked into the pico from my shrimp taco. I think he's an absolute believer now. Poor baby...

So, he wakes up bright eyed and bushy tailed this morning and I'm severely dragging cuz while he was in a Benadryl induced slumber I was wide awake watching him breathe.... Coffee....I need more coffeeeeeee!

 I thought of trying soy too, because it's an obnoxious overwhelming diet sometimes...but nah....don't think I will ;) Poor guy!!! I know it stinks!!! Maybe he can have the fake stuff to kill the cravings?
