it has been going around and spreading easily so...
Yep! It doesn't help that DIL works in a middle school. Their policy: Even if the kid tests positive they let them come to school as long as they wear a mask. That idiocy blows my mind! Of course she got it - how could she not under those circumstances?

Busy morning! It was time for a new round bale so I got one put out this morning. Just in time because we're supposed to get a front tonight with rain attached. While I was on the tractor I decided to tackle a chore that I've been wanting to do for at least 20+ years. No procrastination here! In my defense the chore needed a tractor and I didn't have one for most of those years.

I had a cast iron tub sitting out in the barnyard that's never been moved to where I wanted it. The place it was in was extremely inconvenient and the hose wouldn't reach it to fill it up - so I decided to move it to the place that I had originally wanted it. Got it flipped over so I could drag it. It has feet and it wouldn't drag while upright. Got it close to where I wanted it and then had to figure out how to flip it back up on its feet. Tried to get the FEL under it and it kept shoving it forward instead of flipping it. I grabbed a hoe and was able to pull some of the dirt away so that I could get the bucket under it. Voila!! It flipped perfectly and I was able to put it exactly in the right spot. Whew - good luck rules over mediocre skill, lol. It's now full of water and the goats love it. They've been drinking rainwater out of it for years so it's not new to them.

After that adventure I snagged a couple of does that have needed a pedicure for a while now. They forgot how much they wanted it and were a bit reluctant to cooperate - but they were pretty easily convinced and accepted their spa moment.

Had a little lunch and taking a quick break. Need to unload the dishwasher and figure out something for dinner. 🤔

This gave me a chuckle!

How often do you have to trim the Kiko crosses? Is it less than the pure dairy gals? I felt like I was constantly trimming goat hooves but my sheep only need to be done like twice a year tops. Some are fine with once a year at shearing time. It’s awesome!

The two I trimmed this morning were my two Nubian girls - if that gives you a clue, lol.

The Kiko crosses...hmmmm...I honestly have hardly trimmed any of them. Maybe some of the older does once or twice at most. I love it!

I do love my Nubs - but they are so much more labor intensive than anything else on the place.

Ugh - does history repeat itself?

MIL is in the hospital - taken from the nursing facility to the ER by ambulance yesterday. First suspicion was another stroke. She had one quite a few years ago and after something like that you always feel like you're waiting for the other shoe to drop. Thank goodness - CT scan didn't indicate that diagnosis. Looks like a major UTI.

After a bit more investigation - she was placed on a new medication a week or so ago and it may be the culprit. She has many of the listed side effects of this drug. UTI's are prevalent amongst those who react negatively to this drug. Nausea - she's been throwing up for 2 days now. Urine retention - she's now got a Foley cath. Dizziness - she was found on the floor yesterday. Confusion - she didn't know where she was or who she was. She only knew that she's 90 y.o.

Generally, she is the most 'with it' 90 y.o. you'll ever meet. She asked to go from a private care home to a nursing facility because she craved a social life. I sure hope she gets to go back there and enjoy being with other folks.

In other news - my DIL's mother tested positive for Covid yesterday after being with us (and covid + DIL) at the Superbowl watch party. DH and I both feel fine. I've had an off and on, very slight headache for a couple days. I'm blaming it on allergies. Other than that - I feel absolutely fine and have been working outside as usual - maybe even more.

Our tests should be here Saturday. If I have any symptoms I'll definitely test - mostly just because I'm curious. Son seems to be fine - no symptoms for him either - yet.

Maybe vacs and boosters really do help, lol.

hope so, be good to yourself there! :) as a wise man said, Omicron was the vaccine we failed to make.
