It's been a looooong time since I planted 'em. I had a few that germinated so I'm pretty sure it isn't a "wait time" thing. My seeds are old so I think I'm gonnna have to actually buy seeds before spring.

Poppy is doing much better this afternoon. She's had two injections of antibiotics so I've gotta think I'm on the right track. I never heard her cough, no runny nose...don't know what the issue is/was but she's responding so I'm happy about that.

PT went pretty well for DH today. He needs to build up his stamina though. More walking is in order for sure.

Finished with all the wood from the tree and got it stacked and covered with a tarp. Fire pit should be here tomorrow. Guess assembling it will be my next challenge. Surely it can't be too hard, lol.

Been a challenging day with DH's blood sugar. Finally had to remove his Omni pod and put a new one in a different place. Sometimes you get a spot that has been used a lot and it builds up scar tissue. Scar tissue doesn't distribute insulin sooooo had to change it out. Unfortunately, you can't re-use a pod. I hate wasting one, but I also hate for DH to have a blood sugar that's out of control.

Need to go inject the doe with her evening dose and then come in and start dinner.

Ate fresh broccoli tonight. Oh. My. Goodness! Nothing like it!

Did my least favorite thing today and ran errands. First to the vets office to get some Lutalyse for a little doe who woo'd the big buck and got more than she asked for, lol. So, morning after shot for her. Except it's not exactly the morning after - it's more like 11-12 days after.

Then off to the feed mill for grain. Got the truck loaded up with critter feed and headed for Walmart for people feed. Had some things to pick up besides groceries so I headed there. Hate it, lol. After I finished there, I went to the other grocery store in town for produce. It's so much nicer than what Walmart carries.

Anybody use any of the grocery delivery services? I hate shopping for groceries so much. It's such a time suck and I don't have any time to spare. I'm considering it...but haven't taken the plunge...yet.

I've got quail chicks in the incubator. No wait - I've got quail eggs in the incubator. I hear some peeps and see some pips in a few eggs so maybe by morning I'll have honest to goodness quail chicks. Exciting!

DH is doing so much better since the shunt adjustment. PT is impressed too. His balance is getting better, and his legs are working better too. I no longer have to shadow his every step. He's making his own coffee and grabbing his own snacks. It's seriously awesome ya'll!

Supposed to have some folks coming to look at some goats tomorrow. If it goes well I'll have 4 less mouths to feed.

Wonderful news for & about DH . Got to be relief for both ya!!! Probably a couple more fine time adjustments will get y'all's lives back to "normal". -- whatever that is.

It is! And as an added bonus his cognition is definitely on the upswing too. During the worst of it he was very apathetic (sort of a blessing in disguise) and had a major loss of problem-solving abilities and memory. His mood is downright jolly these days, lol. Memory can still be a challenge, but I can live with it!

Woke up to a bunch of quail chicks running around the incubator. I had more than 60 eggs but wasn't expecting much of a hatch. It's always a gamble with shipped eggs. Sure enough, upon arrival, one box was in really bad shape. Looked like it had been used as a soccer ball - crushed and torn. Thankfully the seller had packed them very well and there was minimal visual damage. But, it's hard to get 'scrambled' eggs to turn into real, live chicks. With this hatch, I should have enough to get started again with the quail. I haven't opened the incubator yet and probably won't until tonight, but there's maybe 20ish in there that I can see through the viewing window.

Occupational Therapy will be here this morning and Physical Therapy around noon. Need to tidy up a bit before they come. Then on to getting the guest room ready. DH's sister is coming to visit next week for a few days. I think that'll do even more for DH's mood!

Well, well, well - to you naysayers (you know who you are, lol) who didn't think I'd sell goats when I bought the new goats a couple months ago - you were wrong! Bought 4 goats in September and I've sold 5 goats since then. Sold a buck a month or so ago, and I sold 4 girls today.

However, the number of mouths hasn't really decreased since the quail eggs have been hatching and hatching. It was 46 at last count. I don't really know how that happened! I bought a bunch of quail eggs because usually the hatching rate is lousy with shipped eggs. They've exceeded my expectations for sure and I see cage building in my future.

PT put DH through the wringer today. He had to walk outside on uneven ground. It was rough, but he did it....slowly, lol.

That is an exceptional hatch! And those tiny things start laying at a very young age, right? Of course, I'm pretty sure you are raising for freezer mainly, right? Keeping a few for eggs to incubate...a true circle of life.

I actually had a back-up buyer if these folks didn't come through - but come through they did! I was about to give up because I must've had at least 5 or 6 people who said they wanted them, and they would come "tomorrow" but every one of them ghosted me. How RUDE!

Had to cull one of the baby quail. It had a crossed beak and only one eye. Poor thing. I hated to do it but not sure it could've ever eaten correctly and really didn't want those genetics in the flock. Still sad though... Several more have hatched since then. Not sure we'll make 50, but maybe 48.

Yes, mostly for the freezer - and my belly! They generally start laying around 6 - 7 weeks. This time of year I may have to employ lights to get them going. Not much light and they're under cover in a shed so even less light there.
