Your possum story reminds me of when I lived smack dab in the middle of Los Angeles county and we had a possum show up in our teeny tiny postage stamp of a backyard at our apartment. Our dog had a FIT one night and barked her fool head off, awakening every neighbor within miles and us too. Before we saw it, we had let her out and she chased it up a tree, where it spit and snarled at her.
By morning it was gone, but I could not believe those things survive in civilization like that.....like a big RAT.

Here in WA we say "Why did the chicken cross the road?"

"To show the possum it could be done."

They are always seem to look like a flatsy doll around here when you spot one.

It sounds like you are busy with your goatie projects with the soap and the kidding anticipation......you must have some cool soap molds. I hope you share some pictures of your two-colored soap. I have not tried any coloring yet. All my soap has been "tan"......but I'm striving for the ultra-natural no extra ingredients type soap for the moment for family use.

Alas....my computer is broken AGAIN. This time I can't even get it to turn on.

I'll try taking some cell phone pics and emailing them to myself. That way I can post them at work ;)

My mother actually found most of my molds. She goes to Jo Anns or Christmas Tree shops after the holiday and gets those silicone molds. They actually work great for soaping. I prefer log or loaf molds myself, but for special occasions like this craft fair I like to jazz it up a bit. The majority of recipies I have often come with a lot of excess so I asked her to find little candy molds for me to use the excess in - that's where the stars and strawberries come from.

I've also found those little fruit cups that you buy in the grocery store, matchbox car containers, those little packets of BBQ or honey mustard sauce from fast food places and stuff like that work great as molds when you don't want to throw the excess away.

I find myself looking at all kinds of "trash" and thinking....this could be a soap mold....I wondered about those candy molds. I've seen some at the goodwill but they were so tiny.

Just caught this boer goat kidding on marestare:

http://www.marestare.com/cam.php?alias=kinghill

I'm so glad jav posted the link for the barn alarm! I don't have to keep cameras up or search for alerts - the alarm makes a sound when someone switches to a high or low alert and you just click on the name of the farm and the camera pops up.

This one didn't even give us a low alert, just high then babies were on the ground.

The only thing, though, is this doe is being super possessive and the woman helping her is being very agressive with the doe. I understand she's trying to be the boss goat over the doe, but dang - the horns on that doe are going to bore a hole in her if she turns her back!

SD - the tinier the better! I hate tossing out excess soap so if those molds are silicone why not give them a try? After having the soap sit in the mold for a day or so just give the mold a little pull and you can just push the soap out. I really like the silicone molds! I want to find a bundt cake mold that's silicone (but don't want to pay a lot for it) and make a soap cake.

Well I have a granddaughter now so cute little tiny soaps might be fun for her.

I have seen those silicone molds at the goodwill and passed on them. Now I'm kicking myself. I did find some interesting glass molds, not sure what they were originally meant for but I wish I had more of them.

Hubby enjoys soap making with me, does your husband participate? He finds the chemical transformation fascinating I think. But he is a big packrat and brings me home odd containers all the time saying they could be "soap molds".

We tried making some loofa soaps and soap on a rope and so far my results on that were rather laughable! Next time I'm going to soak the loofa in water for a week and slice it up small and then dip them in the soap when it hits light trace and see if that works better.

I have to tell you, I have spent many an hour looking at soap molds online. It is a weird passtime of mine!

Big G isn't really into soap making. He likes the soap, though!

So I just called him to tell him I "won" something on the radio...I love 80's and 90's music along with country so I usually spend my day changing the radio station to something else and on the soft rock station I heard the 'call in now' to become a qualifier in a big contest to win 11 tickets to a Bon Jovi concert! Miraculously I was the right caller! I'll admit, it's not the first time I've tried to become a qualifier for this deal, but I never thought I'd actually get through. So now on Friday night we're going to a bowling alley where the radio station is throwing a party and picking a winner. Since we all like bowling we're just going to make a family date night out of it and enjoy free food at the party. How awesome is that! And imagine if I won 11 tickets to see Bon Jovi -OMG. They're "box" seats if you will so they're not really close or anything, but still....BON JOVI.

little g's obsessed with Living on a Prayer, Wanted Dead or Alive and, his personal favorite, You Give Love a Bad Name. You should hear him sing it...imagine a 5 yr old boy in the back seat of the car playing air guitar...it's that hilarious!

So after I told Big G about my winnings, I told him we got an email from a former co-worker of his who wanted his resume for something. But since our computer is broken I asked him how the heck we were going to get it to the guy. Big G said 'cause we're going to the store and buying a new one today'.
:weee

Our computer is 6 years old - it's not that bad at all and it might even be fixable, but I really want a lap top with a docking station. That way we can sit and use the old monitor/keyboard when doing long projects or we can take the computer along with us on trips (puts my desire for a portable DVD player to rest too!). So we're going to Best Buy tonight. First we're going to see if they can fix ours up real fast and if not, I'm out of a bunch of recent pictures and some excel spreadsheets I made up for my soap business, but nothing that's going to kill us.

I've realized that the more I loose stuff the better off I am because it forces me to realize some stuff just isn't as important as I thought. When it's gone it's gone and there's little you can do to help the situation so you either pick up and go on or dwell, which stinks. I'd rather just move on.

I still have an old computer in the basement because of pictures I can't get off it. We have a friend in Scotland (CT) right on Rt. 14 who used to work for Computer Tamers. He says he will get all the pictures off it for us for a small fee. We haven't taken him up on it yet but should. I've been moving pictures off this computer because its time is almost up. We'll be replacing it when the income tax refund comes. DH insists we need a desk top since it's our main computer. He has a much less powerful desk top that he uses. I really want a laptop though. Next year our schools will all have wireless internet so I can justify having one at work (certified staff will have one provided). How does a laptop with a docking station work (Computers For Dummies version?)
Pffft, hit send before I was done.
Congrats on the tickets!! MY DS has some interesting musical taste too. Right now his favorite is Tom Petty and Men at Work. Quite a combination. When he was three he shocked his preschool teachers by pretty much singing Yellow Submarine word for word. I love it!
